Enjoy selected readings throughout the day with ties to the NW. Bring 1-3 gently used books on any subject for the exchange. Don't have a book to exchange? No worries! Highliners: Boats of the CenturyOpens February 14 The Center for Wooden Boats
CWB presents the story of the historic power-schooners of Seattle's longline fleet, many of which are 100 years old and still actively fishing. Many of these unique vessels were built here, on the shores of Puget Sound, as Seattle was coming into its own as a city. Look for them coming over from the Fishermen's Terminal in parade on Thursday, February 13th. More info here.

Amazon Buys Another Block in Denny Triangle
Amazon.com exercised an option Friday to buy nearly an entire city block next to its future high-rise campus in Denny Triangle, paying Seattle's Clise Properties $52.2 million, public records show. The block, bounded by Seventh and Eighth avenues and Bell and Blanchard streets, is currently home to Budget Car Rental, the Hurricane Cafe, parking lots and a former motel leased to Cornish College of the Arts. Member Tip: The 3 Second Rule to Networking
As soon as you enter a room of people start a conversation with the first person you see within the first 3 seconds. Do not hesitate. Don't look for somebody you know. It doesn't matter who you approach, just go talk to somebody.
The goal here is to build confidence, get outside 'your head' and build the habit of proactively meeting people. A good place to start is at the registration desk. Try and view this as the "warm up." Use this opportunity to speak to the person beside you as you sign in or receive your name tag.
