SLU CHAMBER OCTOBER LUNCH MEETING
A salute to small business
October 17 at the REI flagship store
11:30-1:00

We'll be connecting, networking, dining and celebrating small business in SLU! Presented by

            comcast

Maybe you met our featured speaker at the SLU Trade Show.  Robbin Block, a marketing strategist, author, radio show host and corporate renegade will share an engaging and sometimes humorous presentation with a dash of economic theory with a healthy dose of New York skepticism. She'll also fill us in on the Seattle radio show she hosts, Minding Your Business airing every Saturday on 1300AM KKOL.

The first 30 minutes of the meeting is devoted to networking. See you there!

BIG CHANGES WITH METRO BUS SERVICE BRING MORE BUSES TO SLU
Goodbye free-ride zone and routes 15, 17 and 18
Hello pay-on-entry and routes 40 and 62

metro

A total of 79 routes that provide more than 120,000 trips daily are undergoing changes that range from moving a downtown stop two blocks, to replacing or eliminating a entire route. Some good news for SLU commuters, two new bus routes were added providing more access to the neighborhood.

Route 40 will provide all-day service between downtown Seattle and the Northgate TC via SLU, Westlake Ave North, Fremont, Ballard and North Seattle CC. This new route will replace parts of routes 5,17,18,30 and 75 and will operate on 3rd Ave.

The 62 route will provide service between downtown Seattle and Ballard via SLU and Seattle Pacific University.

Route 62 - view map and schedule here

SEATTLE DESIGN FESTIVAL SHOWCASED SLU FOR 2ND ANNUAL EVENT

SEA DES FEST

South Lake Union hosted the 2nd annual Seattle Design Festival last weekend, put on by Design in Public. John Street between 9th and Westlake was transformed with outdoor furniture and large containers turned into pop-up shops, art exhibits and interactive spaces. The Seattle Architectural Foundation hosted walking tours, and there was even a design-themed pub trivia. We loved hosting them and seeing our neighborhood beautifully showcased.
