Flag Day
Our last community event will be held on June 14 at 8:25 on the campus. We will celebrate a great year, acknowledge the STARS in our school and of course honor America and Old Glory. Please bring your cameras and be on time for this Royle tradition. In case of rain the event will be cancelled. You will recognize the huge American flag on the front of the building!

Traffic Calming
I personally want to thank all those who have cooperated with our new dismissal initiative. We did this because an almost tragic accident occurred about 6 weeks ago and we felt we needed to make some changes for everyone's safety. While I realize this new routine may cause some back up on Mansfield, we have cleared the pick-up loop in as little as 4 minutes. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Enjoy the long weekend.

PTO Thank Yous

Thank you to Annie Zawacki, the Round-Up Committee, and all the parent,  teacher  and student volunteers for making last week's roundup a rousing success.  The games, face painting, and food made for a wonderful afternoon for our Royle Community.  Thank you to Silvia Larizza for for her masterful MC skills.

Thank you to all of the parent volunteers for ensuring that we had successful and fun field days lead by Mrs. Cardamone and Mr. Serrano.

Twice Exceptional:  Understanding Students with both Disabilities and High Abilities.
Monday, June 6, 7:15 PM Darien Library Community Room
Please join us for a presentation by Susan Baum, Ph.D., on raising and educating twice-exceptional (2E) students -- those with high abilities combined with learning challenges.  Dr. Baum will discuss the importance of recognizing and developing a child's strengths as part of a comprehensive educational plan - noting that focusing only on their deficits greatly compromises the effectiveness of any educational program. Twice exceptional students may have talents that are equally important and need to be nurtured, ranging from the performing and visual arts to science, engineering, and architecture.
Dr. Susan Baum, the foremost expert on twice-exceptional students, is co-director of the International Center for Talent Development and Director of the National Institute for 2E Research and Development at Bridges Academy.
Co-sponsored by Darien Library, Darien Advocates for Education of the Gifted (DAEG) and Darien Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC). Please RSVP to [email protected].

The course will promote academic readiness skills such as letter and number recognition and counting, while encouraging students to work independently, in small groups, and large groups on various pre-academic activities.
