GreenLight Co-Hosts Social Innovation Fund Grant Makers Forum

Last month, in partnership with New Profit and Associated Grant Makers, the GreenLight Fund co-hosted a grant makers briefing about the Obama Administration's Social Innovation Fund (SIF). Michael Smith, director of the Social Innovation Fund, led the forum and provided attendees with information on how to apply to the SIF's fourth and largest grant competition, a $65.8 million fund.

Over 60 leaders from Boston's foundation community attended the event. During the panel, Margaret Hall, GreenLight's national executive director and Tulaine Montgomery, lead partner of the Pathways Fund at New Profit, discussed their experiences as SIF grantees and intermediary funders. Bob Giannino-Racine of uAspire, one of GreenLight's six SIF subgrantee organizations, also shared his perspective.

To read more about GreenLight's experience with the SIF, read Margaret Hall's blog post: 5 Reasons to Consider Applying to the Social Innovation Fund.

Katie Magyar Named Program Director for the College Advising Corps in Boston

Katie Magyar joined the College Advising Corps team in January as the program director for Boston. Previously, Katie spent nearly five years at Sociedad Latina, a youth development organization in Roxbury.

Katie has a wealth of experience in a number of program development and implementation areas. While at Sociedad Latina, she created a college access program and then moved into development and evaluation work. As an AmeriCorps alumna, her previous experience hit on key aspects of the College Advising Corps program director role. Katie also brings a passion and enthusiasm for college access work that has allowed her to hit the ground running to launch College Advising Corps - Boston and support new advisers.

"College Advising Corps advisers are having a significant, immediate and positive impact on students' college-going behavior in schools across the country. I'm thrilled to be a part of this movement and lead the program and advisers to success in Boston," said Katie on her new role.
