A Free Pattern from the Vintage Archives
A Darling Little Crib Quilt

Vintage Archives
Every once in awhile I pull out some of my vintage pattern booklets and peruse what ideas I can reuse or adapt to a new pattern. This Spring I thought you all might enjoy this two page applique' pattern I found for a little Baby Crib Quilt, featuring a little puppy and kitten, accented with little daisies at the corners. It appears to be from about the 1950's or 1960's. You could make this for a boy or girl or if the gender will be a surprise, you could easily neutralize the colors. After the baby is born, you could free-motion embroidery the baby's name and birthdate using a free-motion embroidery attachment and make it an heirloom quilt! Whatever you make, please post it to our Facebook group for all to see!

Vintage Embellishments...

Did you know your Singer Featherweight 221 can also Hemstitch? Not a hem that is stitched perse', but very specifically, a Hemstitching technique?.... Why, yes, your little machine certainly can with this specialized and rare attachment! Very carefully, a special vintage effect can be achieved - for heirloom sewists, you could even make your own lace entredeux!
I receive requests quite frequently for the much-desired Featherweight 221 Throat Plate 121392. However, because the Throat Plates are model specific and the demand for this particular part number is much greater, the specially designed throat plate (specific to the Singer Featherweight 221) is more difficult to come by. Unfortunately, they do not venture into the shoppe very often, but right now we have two in stock, so hurry before they're gone!
$219.95 - Full Set Attachment
Throat Plate #121392, Screw, Original Box & Instruction Manual
Your Hemstitcher Attachment will be personally sampled and tested, ready for your practice and use.
OH! Before I forget, here is a video showing how this specialty stitch can be achieved:
| | How to use the Singer Hemstitcher Attachment.MOV | You'll have to forgive the amateur-video whilst trying to film while Hemstitching -- all with only two hands... but you'll get the idea for how it is accomplished at least.
More Attachments Available this month, too!

Spring is Most Definitely Here!
The snow is just about gone and the temperatures are warming up quickly so as to put a bee in my bonnet to get outside! This week we were given a great gift of fully established raspberry bushes to plant on our new land. This will be the first little bit of gardening that we will actually harvest this year - I can't wait! The snow is still so freshly gone that I am still waiting for the flowers to show signs of peeking through the newly exposed dirt.
While I'm waiting and working outside a little bit more, sewing life doesn't stop though, does it?! I don't know about you, but there are still many, many sewing projects that I am working on or that have been added to my gift-giving list.... birthdays, new babies, and even the simple desire to be sewingly creative. We have "sew" much to keep us busy year round!
Hope you are enjoying this new season upon us! When you're needing anything for your Singer Featherweight, we hope you remember April 1930's...
Till Next Month (pun intended), April
