Stay Connected

I would like to thank you for reading our newsletter each week. If you know of a Liberty Parent or Community member who does not receive our letter, please let us know so we can add them to the list.

In the coming days you will hear a number of things about test scores release and validity. Please know the push for Liberty Middle school is to continue to monitor your child by embedding their "assessments" within the course work. You will notice all content level grade level exams are common. This information is aligned with our Florida Standards to ensure your child is learning the skills necessary to be college and career ready. This year's Florida Standard Assessment (FSA) is a baseline year.

"I know that regardless of outcomes at the state level, our community can be confident that our outstanding teachers will continue to teach the new rigorous standards in order to lead Orange County's 200,000 students to success."
--Dr. Jenkins

September 8 is our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) meeting and our School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting at 5:00 PM. We hope you can join us. Your involvement is important to us.

At this point your child should have returned their three forms to sign out their Chromebook. If they have not completed the Chromebook permission form, the STAR form and the code of conduct, they may still be without their electronic device. Let's make every effort to ensure all forms are returned by Monday.  Currently 90% of our Chromebooks are already in students' hands... YEAH!

Thank you again for all of your support!

Go Patriots!

Shout Out
Thank you Ms. Jensen for showing our hallways some love!  In the first few weeks of school, students and staff members arrived to see several previously-bare bulletin boards transformed one by one into beautiful, and informational, works of art. The person behind the revamping initially remained a mystery but now we'd recognize her signature style anywhere! A huge thank you goes out to Ms. Jensen, 6th grade science teacher, for spending countless hours of her own personal time over summer break and before and after school as well to bring our bulletin boards to life in an innovative and inspiring way. She even bought her own laminating machine!

Her most recent work of motivational art, the multiple intelligences bulletin board in the 6th grade hallway, quotes Albert Einstein: "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." It's an interactive display where students can scan a QR code with their cell phone to learn more about the subject. They're even able to take the online survey to determine how it personally relates to them.

When asked where she got her ideas from, she exclaimed, "Pinterest!" Jensen spent lots of time over the summer with her mother carefully planning each bulletin board down to the last detail. She is currently finalizing an Engineering bulletin board and says she has a couple more surprises still in store for us! If you haven't yet, we hope you get the chance to stop by and check them out in person! Ms. Jensen, Liberty Middle School thanks you for all that you do.
International Literacy Day
Whether it's reading or writing, literacy is an outlet to an untouchable world - your imagination. Not only is literacy a basic human right, it is a fundamental building block for learning as well as a personal empowerment tool. It is the catalyst for social and global progress.

On September 8, 2015, let's show the world the importance of literacy by celebrating International Literacy Day. Help join communities around the globe to act as a united voice in raising awareness for those who cannot read or write.

Liberty will be celebrating on Tuesday with the theme of Willy Wonka and the Reading Factory. There will be lots of sweet treats, prizes, and celebrations for our readers! Stay tuned for more information and pictures from our celebration!
