HR Knowledge Recognized by the Boston Business Journal's 2014 List of Largest Employee Benefits Firms in MA
HR Knowledge has been named to Boston Business Journal's (BBJ) 2014 list of largest employee benefits firms, a designation which recognizes the largest companies in Massachusetts. This is the second time that HR Knowledge has been on the list, the company made an impressive showing, ranking #11. The results were published in the BBJ's November 14, 2014 issue.
Massachusetts Minimum Wage Increased to $9.00 per hour Effective January 1, 2015
On June 26, 2014, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick enacted a new law that will raise the minimum wage rate for Massachusetts employees from $8.00 to $11.00 an hour by 2017. The first of three increases will take effect on January 1, 2015.
New Workplace Employment Posters Effective January 1, 2015
New Employment Posters are required effective January 1, 2015, nationwide. If you have one or more employees, your business is required by law to post a current State and Federal Employment Poster in a central location.

Affordable Care Act Effective January 1, 2015
Effective January 1, 2015, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has added a statute requiring employers with 50 or more full-time equivalent (FTE) employees to offer medical benefits to employees working on average at least 30 hours per week. The 50 employees can either be full-time (meaning those who work on average at least 30 hours per week) or a combination of full-time and part-time employees whose total hours are "equivalent" to 50 full-time employees.

Action Required for Employers with Employees in NY State

Section 195.1 of the WTPA Labor Law requires all employers, other than government agencies, are required to give employees written notices of wage rates at the time of hire and on or before February 1 of each year.


Winter Weather & the Workplace
