Winter Weather Reminders
Dry Shoes Please
Please, no outside shoes on the fencing floor! Salt, sand and water can be hazardous, and makes it harder to keep the place clean. Bring a pair of clean, dry sneakers to change into when you come to fence -- your footwork will thank you!
Winter Closing Information
We don't like to give in to the weather, but when it is necessary to close due to weather conditions, we will post announcements on our web site, face book page and answering machine, as well as sending out an email.

Dez Performs at First Night
|
The audience for Dez Blinn's First Night magic performance was too big to fit in the venue, and according to Conor Matthews, the show was great! Also taking in the show were Tina and Allen from the Daytime Fencing class. Here's a link for video of Dez's demonstrating his strait-jacket skills! Youth and Adult Fencers Compete Locally
|
Several Level 3 fencers have been attending local competitions, and are showing steady improvement. "I'm very proud of these guys who are unafraid to compete against more experienced fencers. They're learning something every time they step on the strip, and are coming back to class excited to work on their skills." Since November, Conor Matthews, Cole Warren, Daniel Ramirez, Cristiano Bryden and Brian Sullivan (not pictured) have fenced in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire! Adult fencers Margaret Kerr, Don Avey, Robert Babineau and Calum Fenton have also competed in local events this season.

Congratulations to Andrew DelMastro who recently earned his USA Fencing 'E' rating by winning a competition at the Farmington Valley Fencing Club in Connecticut. Andrew will be competing again at the Worcester Fencing Club 'E' and Under event this coming weekend.

Guide to Classes

 Guide to Classes
Learn to Fence classes are for beginners -- those with little or no prior instruction in fencing. Students will remain at the Learn to Fence level for at least two terms before moving on to Skills, in order to gain mastery of basic techniques and protocols. Basic footwork, simple attacks and defense are covered, as are the rules and etiquette of the sport.
Skills classes are designed for students who are comfortable with the elements covered in Learn to Fence, and who are ready for more complex techniques. This intermediate class is designed to be repeated, and even advanced level students can benefit from the technical instruction provided.
Strategy and Tactics classes are for fencers who have demonstrated a commitment to improving their skills and applying those skills in competition or recreational bouting. A wide variety of topics will be covered, from situational bouting to tournament preparation. Youth Level Three requires coach's approval.
