Labor Day: Celebrating  American productivity & ingenuity:





 

A "high scaler", a laborer drilling and blasting  rock at Hoover Dam, got tired of tools and debris hitting his head.

He dipped a baseball cap  in pine tar until it hardened.  Construction companies took note, and the hardhat was born.
