9th District Sound & Communications Agreement
NECA Service Charge Change
|
Effective March 1, 2016, tall of the NECA Chapters party to the Northern California Sound & Communications Agreement, Addendum #2 (with the exception of San Francisco) have changed their NECA Service Charge to 1%. With this change, the Northern California Chapter will eliminate its Supplemental Service Charge of 0.6% and change its NECA Service Charge from 0.5% to 1%. This change equates to an overall 0.1% decrease in NECA Service Charges. Click here to view the updated Cost Data Sheet for Addendum 2A - which includes Alameda, Napa and Solano Counties. San Joaquin Calaveras Counties JATC Hires New Training Director
Effective June 1, 2016

On March 1st, the San Joaquin & Calaveras Counties Joint Apprentice & Training Committee (JATC) completed their search to replace David Brooks as Training Director. Dave will retire effective May 31, 2016, and Nicholas Speziale will assume the position as the new Training Director on June 1, 2016.
Nick graduated from Lodi High School in 1986. Upon graduation, Nick entered the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne where he received the Commanding General's Coin for Leadership Excellence on five separate occasions. He was deployed to the Middle East in 1987. In 1990, Nick received an honorable discharge and began attending San Joaquin Delta College, from where he graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. Later, he was indentured into the San Joaquin & Calaveras Counties Electrical Apprenticeship and graduated in 2003. Nick started his apprenticeship with Collins Electric and has been employed with Collins for the past 18 years serving as Journeyman, Foreman, and General Foreman on various commercial and industrial projects throughout the valley. Nick had recently accepted a position as our 2nd year instructor and is doing a fine job.
We would like to congratulate Nick on his new position. We have every confidence he will take the program to the next level of education and training.

Project Excellence Award Program

Don't forget to submit your project for the Chapter's 10th Annual Project Excellence Awards competition. This program was developed to recognize excellence in electrical/technology installations and the NECA contractors responsible for their outstanding achievements. Projects completed between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2015, in Alameda, Napa, Solano, San Joaquin, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties are eligible for entry. Projects outside of the Chapter's jurisdiction may be considered depending on circumstances, location and complexity. Marv Jensen Safety Award Program Deadline to Submit: April 29, 2016

The IBEW 595/NorCal NECA Joint Safety Committee is pleased to announce the 2016 Marv Jensen Safety Award program, established to recognize excellence in safety demonstrated by NorCal NECA member contractors and IBEW Local 595 electricians/technicians. Marvin Jensen was an impassioned advocate of safety and demonstrated his dedication to safety awareness throughout his career. He was a safety pioneer and his leadership, presence and dedication will always be remembered. As in years past, individual recognition and awards will be presented at the Chapter's Fall General Member meeting in September.
