Fremont USD Board Meeting Held Last Week
PLA Negotiations To Begin
Last week, the Fremont Unified School District Board Members heard from NECA, the trades, and contractors on the value of a Project Labor Agreement. Trades members from Fremont spoke about living and working in Fremont, and the opportunity to go through their respective apprenticeships. Special thanks to NECA contractors for attending and speaking about the benefits of a PLA: Dave Smith, Smith & Sons Electric, and Jacob Brahmst, Niles Electric. Byron Benton, also a Fremont resident, came out to speak in support of a PLA and invited the Board members to tour our ZNE Center for a first-hand look at quality training. After statements were heard and discussion held, the Board voted unanimously to direct staff to begin PLA negotiations with the trades on the $650 million bond measure passed in 2014.

Chapter's Board Plans For 2016 & Beyond
Annual Planning Retreat Held Two Weeks Ago
The Chapter's Board of Directors met last week for its annual planning retreat. During the two-day event, the Board conducted its regular annual meeting, reviewed and discussed the Chapter's 2015 goals and what was achieved, and discussed goals and recommendations for 2016.

The review of 2015 goals focused on specific categories including each of the Chapter's Divisions, administration and office, and regional, statewide, and national goals. We were pleased the Board concluded that our 2015 goals were exceeded in all areas.

A review of our 2016 goals as well as long range planning took place. There was active discussion by the entire Board, and we're looking forward to not only an exciting 2016, but digging into the future of our Chapter.

All of us at the Chapter office appreciate the time and commitment of our entire board of directors (and the perseverance of their spouses and significant others), and we look forward to a successful 2016.
