East Bay Leadership Council Event
With Senator Steve Glazer

Held October 22nd
Last week, Darlene Besst attended the East Bay Leadership Council luncheon, where newly elected Senator Steve Glazer was the featured guest speaker. Senator Glazer talked about his decision to run for the seat, and his priorities as senator representing the majority of Contra Costa County, and in Alameda County Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore. The senator talked about the high-speed rail and the twin tunnels as not being a prudent use of funds, and the more conservative approach by the assembly and senate in Sacramento. He mentioned that unions play a great roll, but stressed fairness good faith bargaining. When asked about the one major piece of legislation he would change, he mentioned co-sponsoring a bill to gut the measure that requires school districts to hold reserves at 6%. Afterward, Darlene took the opportunity to introduce herself and briefly explain who NECA is and what we represent.
