Today is Labor Day, celebrated first in 1882, in New York City. Today we honor the American Labor Movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and the well-being of our country. So be patriotic and rest!. See you at the Fall General Member Meeting on Wednesday for more celebrating!

"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."
Abraham Lincoln

Investment Client Summit Held Last Week
Focus on Market Environment
Last week, Greg Armstrong and Scot VanBuskirk attended the Verus Investment Client Summit in Seattle. The day-long summit, 'True North, Exploring Opportunities in Your Institutional Portfolio,' aimed at providing insight, thoughts, and best practices on how to take advantage of opportunities in our dynamic and ever-changing market environment. The agenda included such topics as biases in the investment market, financial re-leveraging and de-leveraging, and a CIO roundtable discussion that explored the investment landscape while identifying critical ideas that fiduciaries should focus upon as they evaluate investment opportunities and threats.

The Client Summit ended with Keynote Speaker Bob Woodward, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and the Associate Editor of The Washington Post. In 1972, Mr. Woodward, along with Carl Bernstein, reported on the Watergate scandal. To end the Client Summit, Mr. Woodward discussed his vast comprehension of how power is exercised in Washington and what it means for our future.
