Industry Nights Held in Manteca & Fairfield
Contractors/IBEW Support Efforts
Due to the current man-power shortage in the Greater Bay Area, the National Labor-Management Cooperation Committee agreed to hold Industry Nights for some of our jurisdictions. Our IBEW partner's set up radio advertisements, mailers, and in-person visits to electricians in Solano, Napa, Stockton, and Modesto, in an effort to get certified electricians to attend the events.

On Tuesday, August 18th, the Modesto and Stockton jurisdictions held an Industry Night in Manteca. Contractors in attendance were Bockmon & Woody Electric Co. Inc., Collins Electrical Co. Inc., and Con J. Franke Electric, Inc. These contractors interviewed roughly 40 potential electricians.

On Thursday, August 20th, an Industry Night was held in Fairfield, which catered to the Solano/Napa jurisdiction. Contractors in attendance were Long Electric, West Coast Electric Service Co. Inc., Woltz Electric, and ZECO Electric Co. Throughout the evening 25 potential electricians were interviewed.

A representative from the JATC attended each night and spoke to individuals who were interested in joining the Apprentice training program for the corresponding jurisdiction. NECA staff and IBEW leaders were also in attendance each night to help facilitate the evening and answer any questions from the potential hires. The Industry Nights were a great success and we thank everyone who helped setup the evenings, as well as those who were in attendance.

Golf Proceeds
Delivering To Four Deserving Charities
Each year our annual Golf Tournament generates enough revenue to cover expenses and donate to various charities within our Chapter's jurisdiction. Over the last few weeks, NECA and our contractors visited the charities selected by our contractors. We were honored to deliver gifts of $5,000 each to these charities, pictured from left to right and The Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation (not pictured):

Hospice of San Joaquin

Modesto Gospel Mission
Attitudinal Healing Connection
Aldea
(Wolfe Center)
Checks were presented to these very deserving charities by Kurt Brinkman, Brian Gini, Lew Frain, Greg Armstrong, Julie Russell, Darlene Besst, and Scot VanBuskirk. We were able to tour the facilities and learn more about how these programs serve the people in their respective areas. Each person we met with expressed gratitude for being chosen to receive our gift, and asked us to convey to all of those responsible a sincere thank you!  We could not have done this without the support of all of our contractors, and for that we are very grateful. Please take a moment to visit the web sites to learn more about these organizations.
