Toy Drive
Donations at the Installation of Officers Holiday Dinner
Our Installation of Officers/Holiday Dinner is this week, Friday, December 5th. We're looking forward to seeing all of you who have already confirmed your attendance. In the spirit of giving this Holiday Season, we have committed to a toy drive again this year. Please bring joy to a needy child this year, and bring a new, unwrapped toy to drop in the donation barrels provided. Your donation will benefit the Children's Hospital & Research Center of Oakland, and Shelter, Inc. Our evening will begin at 5:30PM with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, followed by an evening of dinner and dancing to the tunes of the fabulous Martini Band. We're looking forward to it!

Holiday Hazards
Take Precautions This Season.
Driving to the relatives, friends, or a restaurant. During the holidays people get in a hurry. Hurry is a holiday hazard that can end the fun quickly. Be sure you leave in plenty of time to follow the "rules of the road." Remember that getting to your destination and back is the number one goal. If you are heading to a new location, be sure and take the time to plan your drive. If you are driving in an area of severe weather, be sure to carry resources with you such as food, water, blankets, a flashlight, first aid kit, etc. If you are stranded on the side of the road comfort is second to survival. Be prepared.
Flying the airlines? Good luck! Seriously though, prepare for the possibility of overnighting in an airport. This is more mental preparation than anything else so that you keep your cool. Really, it is one of the worse times to travel by air. As a member of the million milers on the airlines I can tell you that the old saying, "Got time to spare? Go by air!" is a reality.
Food preparation and care. If you are preparing a dish to take with you, follow the guidelines of washing your hands, knives, forks, spoons, cutting boards, and counter tops. Cleanliness is the best way to keep germs from ruining a long weekend. Be sure to put food away in the fridge ASAP. When rewarming food, be sure to heat it up enough to be safe.
Just a few things shared by your Officers of the IBEW Safety Caucus and the Northern California Chapter NECA. Keep safe and have a great time with family and friends this year.
