Fall General Member Meeting
Invitations have been mailed for the Northern California Chapter's Fall General Member Meeting coming soon on Tuesday, September 9th. This year's event will be held at the Palm Event Center in Pleasanton, 1184 Vineyard Ave. The evening's reception will begin at 6 PM with hosted hors d'oeuvres and beverages. Along with networking and our popular raffle prize drawing, we will also recognize Chapter contractors and their team members for excellence in construction. Also, this year the joint Safety Committee will present the Marv Jensen Safety Award designed to recognize excellence in safety demonstrated by NECA contractors and IBEW electricians. We hope that you will join us as for a fun evening of networking, dinner, and celebration. Submit your RSVP form to juanitas@norcalneca.org.

Public Works Contractor Registration
NECA Contractors Register
The DIR has released information online concerning the launch of the public works contractor registration program website. While registration opened July 1, 2014, enforcement will begin as follows:
- Requirement to list only registered contractors and subcontractors in submitted bids on public works projects becomes effective on March 1, 2015.
- Requirement to only use registered contractors and subcontractors on all public works projects applies to projects awarded on or after April 1, 2015.
We encourage all NECA contractors who perform public works projects to register as soon as possible. Fill out the online application by clicking here.

California Apprenticeship Council
The CAC held its third quarter meeting on July 31, 2014, in San Jose. There was discussion on the Related Supplemental Instruction (RSI) funding and the fight to have it fully restored in the future. No funding is restored this year but may be in next year's budget. In addition, the Department of Labor is looking at a $100 million grant for earn while you learn apprenticeship programs across the nation. The council ended with an overview of how unemployment benefits are handled for day school apprentices.
