The summer is quickly slipping by! We have had a number of visitors viewing our current exhibit, Camp Country: Where America Comes To Play. This exhibit is very family friendly. Come and learn about our county's history of summer camps, play a game of checkers, and make a craft to commemorate the visit.
Make plans now to come enjoy the festivities at the 7th Annual Founders Day Fair on September 5th. If you have family history display boards you would like to display at the Museum during the event, please contact Rebecca.
Sincerely,
Transylvania Heritage Museum 189 West Main Street P.O. Box 2347 Brevard, NC 28712 (828) 884-2347

Oral Histories on Video
You have the opportunity to participate in capturing first hand stories of Transylvania County's Heritage. Professional videographer Henry Felt will video interviews with a selection of volunteers who have stories to tell.
Henry has twice before recorded oral history interviews for the Transylvania Heritage Museum. We at the Museum are excited that he will be back. If you or someone you know would be a good subject for a 30-minute interview at the Museum on September 5, call Pat now and make an appointment (884-7330). It will make the interview even more interesting if the subject brings old photos or objects that relate to a story he/she tells. DVD copies of interviews will later be for sale through the Museum's gift shop.
Henry has been making film and video for four decades. He is most proud of the work he did for the Annie E. Casey Foundation, named for UPS founder Jim Casey's mother. The Foundation's initiatives help to improve the lives of millions of children, families and communities across the country (see more at www.aecf.org).
Recently, Henry has spent 6 weeks capturing students, teachers, and visiting musicians at Brevard Music Center, where he says he was the highest paid volunteer on staff. He feels that much reward for what he does. If you subscribe to the Music Center's Etude email newsletter, you will have seen some of his work there. He is currently editing and polishing up much more of his product from the Music Center. He says he only does his work for organizations of which his grandmother would approve.
