Greetings!
My deepest apologies for not sending out the September and October Notes & Notables! We have been so busy with the first "Drive For History" Golf Tournament, Founders' Day Fair, Vision Class History Day and Walking Tours that the month would be half gone in the blink of an eye!
Please share this newsletter with those who may be interested, and with those who may not even know we exist! Word of Mouth is our best publicity, so hit that forward button for us, and spread the word! Sincerely - Rebecca Suddeth, Executive Director

New Board Members
The Transylvania Heritage Museum is proud to announce the additions of several new Board Members! Josh Rivera, Tony Morrow, Dwight Meyer and Cathy McGraw have all agreed to serve on the Board during the past months. Each one has a unique talent that is very well suited to their new roles at the Museum. We look forward to the upcoming planning season with some new faces, perspectives and ideas!

Student VolunteersThe Museum has been fortunate to have enjoyed the services of two students completing projects requiring volunteer hours. One Transylvania County Student and one Madison County Student each spent time at the Museum during the past two months. The tasks were varied and include bundling brochures to be distributed, checking in and re-organizing the contents of incoming Teaching Trunks, to working with Special Collections. It was a pleasure to work with these young ladies and the Museum welcomes student involvement. It is from these that the next generation of preservationists will come!

Christmas Exhibit
The Aluminum Tree & Aesthetically Challenged Seasonal Ornament Museum and Research Center (ATOM), has loaned the Heritage Museum dozens of vintage aluminum trees for this Christmas Season. Aluminum trees, manufactured by over forty companies in the USA, Canada and even Australia, along with hundreds of ornaments, ranging from handmade and hideous to classically kitsch-y, will be on display from December 7th until the Museum closes for the season on December 21st.
Be sure to spread the news about this display and drop by for a wacky and wonderful trip down memory lane. Many thanks to Stephen Jackson for providing these items for our display.
