Greetings!

2013 is in full swing now!  There is so much going on at the Museum that you must drop by to see for yourself!

I would like to thank the Hoodlum Cruisers for the awesome first annual White Squirrel Car Show!  The car show was wonderful and brought many visitors to the Museum for the festival.

Make plans to visit the Museum for All American Fun on July 4th.  Also, mark your calendars for the "Drive for History"  Golf Tournament to be held at Burlingame to benefit the Museum.  The date is Friday, September 6th.  Watch for more details about this exciting opportunity.

Please share this newsletter with those who may be interested, and with those who may not even know we exist!  Word of Mouth is our best publicity, so hit that forward button for us, and spread the word!

Sincerely - Rebecca Suddeth, Executive Director

June Renewal Letters Sent

For all our members whose membership expires at the end of June, a letter has been sent asking you to renew and continue your support of the Museum.  We also took the opportunity to mail letters out to several former members to invite them back.

In this letter, there is a newly developed membership form that allows you to renew in two ways: through the mail and via our web site.  If renewing via our web site, these are the instructions:

Go to www.transylvaniaheritage.org

Click the Donate Now button

Fill out necessary information

Use the SEND NOTE TO SELLER option to state that it is a membership.  If you chose to renew or join as a luminary, please include in the message the names of all those in your household.

The Donate Now button can also be used to pay for Walking Tour Tickets.  Simply use the NOTE TO SELLER and specify which tour you are attending.

We hope that this process will make it easier for people to join our membership, renew memberships, register and pay for walking tours, and make general contributions.

Heritage Gifts

Heritage Gifts is currently featuring its jewelry makers.  The styles in our inventory include diverse media.  Nora Lynn Holmes (upper left) is a  wire wrapping jeweler and teacher; her tutorials have been published several times in Wirework Magazine; she also accepts custom orders and repair work.  Gail Anders (upper right) makes a variety of beaded necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and sets in colors to match any wardrobe.  Susan Copeland creates wooden Intarsia pins (bottom) and wall pieces; the natural color of the wood she uses and the precision cutting are amazing.  Linda Vacca, is a widely known gourd artist who offers necklaces with white squirrels painted on tiny gourds (not shown).  For a temporary period of time, we have necklaces and earrings from Jacolyn Campbell, featuring wee little glass white squirrels.  Come in soon, for the best selection.  Prices range from $4 to $75.

Railroad enthusiast needed!

We are very excited about the model train, created by Frank Guest, and donated to the Museum by his daughter Marlu Jones.  This switch back was located in the Pisgah Forest during the heyday of the Carr Lumber Company.

Much work has been done to restore the model, but help is needed to continue restoration and to keep it in good working order.  If interested, please contact the Museum.
