U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (
HUD) Deputy Secretary Maurice Jones was in Chicago on Feb. 12 to award Illinois $11.98 million through the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities program. 
 
Governor Pat Quinn was on hand to accept the significant award as part of his continued leadership to ensure persons with disabilities can live independently in the community of their choice.

Foreclosure Prevention Foreclosure

One year after Governor Pat Quinn launched the Illinois Foreclosure Prevention Network (IFPN), more than a half-million people have connected to its free statewide resources.

As a result of the IFPN, approximately 600,000 people have been connected to foreclosure prevention resources to help keep their home.

Senate Bill 16IHDA Legislative News

LegislativeGovernor Pat Quinn on Feb. 8 signed landmark legislation to fast-track foreclosures on abandoned, vacant single-family homes and multifamily buildings. The new law will invest an estimated $120 million to help more families keep their homes, and strengthen neighborhoods across Illinois.

The signing is the latest action by Governor Quinn to help working families stay in their homes, which will stabilize and grow the Illinois housing market.

This law is effective June 1. More information is available in the news release.
