Leo Gets a Boost from
Venus, Mars and Jupiter

What's new up there in the sky? Well, this month, the sign of Leo will get a boost of energy from three planets; Venus, Jupiter, and Mars. On October first, Venus moved into the sign of Leo. Mars and Jupiter have already been transiting Leo for a while. Now together, these three energizers will be doing an astronomical dance, forming three separate and different conjunctions, and that is a recipe for producing some positive and interesting events in your life.

A conjunction takes place when two planets are at exactly the same degree. In Vedic astrology, we also include the entire time that two planets are in the same sign. From that point of view, all three planets are in a conjunction for the entire month of October. From the degree-wise definition, Mars and Jupiter will reach their exact point of conjunction on October 17th, Jupiter and Venus will conjunct on the 25th, and Mars and Venus will conjunct on November 2nd.

Each of these conjunctions has its own unique qualities. The Mars/Jupiter conjunction, for example, promotes ambitious energy. It is a great time for taking initiative and starting a new project. During that time people become productive and industrious. It also makes a person feel like he knows what he is doing.

The Venus/Jupiter conjunction, on the other hand is what I call the self-indulgence conjunction. It is great time for spending money, relaxing, and enjoying life. It makes people feel like going to the mall and splurging on new cloths, buying a new car, or spending money on entertainment. It is a good time for finances, generally, but it also gives the tendency to spend.

When Venus and Mars conjunct, attraction and passion result. This is a good time for dating and romance. It is also a time for getting passionate about other things. Whatever domain of life is signified by the house in which this conjunction takes place will draw your full attention and energy during the whole month of October, but more specifically around the times of the three conjunctions given above.

So how do you tell what house or domain of life will be influenced in your chart? You need to look at the horoscope. In the absence of a horoscope, we can plot out the houses based on your Sun sign. The following is a description of what to expect during the whole month of October, 2015, based on your Vedic Sun signs. Make sure you look carefully at the birth dates for each of the Sun signs because we use a different zodiac in Vedic astrology. If you know your Moon sign, Ascendant, or Arudha lagna, then you can read the predictions given for those signs as well.

Vedic Sun Signs:

Apr 14 - May 14 (Aries) - This is a great time for creative projects, romance and for anything related to children. If you are in school, you will find yourself enjoying your studies and doing well. This period is also good for investing and for other financial matters.

May 15 - Jun 14 (Taurus) During this period you might spend money on your home or car. You could find yourself starting or furthering projects to beautify your home or simply spending money on nice hotels while traveling. This is a good time for connecting with your mother as well.

Jun 15 - Jul 15 (Gemini) Your passion for language will come out by getting you intensely involved in the communication process. You could find yourself teaching, writing, reading, or constantly gathering information. This is a great time for travel, teaching, short journeys and also for connecting with siblings.

Jul 16 - Aug 16 (Cancer) During this period, "money might burn a hole in your pocket" and give you the desire to buy something. You could find yourself spending on a variety of small things or possibly making a significant purchase. This period will also increase your love of good food, and get you to enjoy nice dinners and good conversation.

Aug 17 - Sep 16 (Leo) October might be a period during which you express yourself with a greater degree of charisma and charm. You could find yourself telling your story to others as you shed your Leo-light. This is also a good time for giving yourself a makeover, buying new cloths or changing your hair style. In complete contrast to that, this period also promotes your spiritual aspirations, sense of purpose and desire to find purpose in life.

Sep 17 - Oct 16 (Virgo) During this period you might travel near or far. The introspective process could grab you. You might find yourself drawn to meditating or simply towards solitude and silence. This period will also probably produce significant expenditure, but you will probably spend your money on things that are pleasant or that create more beauty or pleasure.

Oct 17 - Nov 15 (Libra) For you, October will promote your natural instinct to socialize. The triple conjunction is taking place in your 11th house, which is associated with friends, groups, organizations, and humanity in general. You might find this month to be a very social period. It is also good for finances and also for actualizing other desires.

Nov 16- Dec 15 (Scorpio) During this period, you will pour your energy into your work with passion and enthusiasm. You will find that you are enjoying your work more than usual and your interaction with your bosses or coworkers should be enjoyable.

Dec 16 - Jan 13 (Sagittarius) October will be a fortunate month for you since it activates your 9th house, the house of fortune. This period is good for finances. It can also promote long distance travel. It is a great time for higher education, and it promotes your relationship with your father or with teachers.

Jan 14 - Feb 12 (Capricorn) - During this period, you will make (or continue to make) changes in various aspects of your life. This is a good period for spending money to fix, improve, remodel or change your residence. It is also a good time for any type of healing therapy, like yoga, Thai Chi or Acupuncture. This period is also good for joint finances as well as financial gains from sources like contracts or clients.

Feb 13 - Mar 13 (Aquarius) Mars, Venus, and Jupiter are transiting in your Seventh house, the house of partnership and marriage. If you are single, this could bring an attraction, or you could simply meet someone special. If you are already in a relationship or married, then this will probably be a more harmonious and affectionate period. In general, you will look at your interaction with other people as enjoyable and beneficial during this time.

Mar 14 - Apr 13 (Pisces) October is a good time for breathing new life into your health routines. It is a great time for improving your diet and for getting more involved in exercise. This period will also produce positive experiences at work. If you are looking for a job, the month of October could produce opportunities.

And yet this has been grossly underrated, ignored and overlooked by many jyotishis. This is partly due to the fact that India is not a land of psychology. In India, astrologers are reinforced for giving predictions, not for giving psychological insights. For this reason, most Vedic astrologers focus on giving predictions on various events in life, and only give a surface treatment to the client's inner wiring.

In this class we will explore the intricate dynamics of psychology. We will not only dissect each astrological combination, one at a time, but we will also delve into the rich symbolism of the nakshatras, and explore the numerous patterns that emerge as we reveal the inner landscape of the client's unique mental and emotional patterning.

We will also apply this knowledge to the of prediction. Understanding the person's psychological wiring is fundamental for understanding the likely choices he will make, and therefore, the directions he will take with his free will. In fact, if you don't understand psychology, you are more likely to fail in prediction.

This class is open to everyone, and students at all levels are bound to benefit. If you are an advanced or intermediate student, this class will fill in a gap in your understanding and practice of Jyotish. If you are a beginning student, this class will lay a firm foundation for understanding the client. It is the first step in chart analysis, the most important foundation for giving a reading.

Join us in Nevada City, CA for this six day California Sierras Jyotish intensive.

This intensive is in three parts.

Part 1 will focus on the areas of finance and career. In the process, you will become more grounded in the fundamentals of chart analysis, as well as the use of dasha and transit techniques for prediction. The area of Artha (the material aspect of life) is an important part of life. These areas of life can be the source of great distress and confusion for many people, especially in our current economic climate. Even if you are a yogi, who never thinks about money or career, you will want to take this class. We will go much deeper than simply analyzing the chart in a mechanical way. We will get to the core of the chart and understand the dharmic aspect of this desire.

Part 2 will focus on remedial measures. I will be showing you how to use gemstones, mantras, yagyas, donations, fasting and other remedial techniques. In addition, I will show you how to bring these practices out of the realm of superstition and use them in a manner that actually makes a connection for both you and your clients. The goal of this aspect of the class is to help each student develop more confidence when recommending remedies, while at the same time, learning to apply remedial techniques in a way that harmonizes with each individual client as well as with modern life.

As with all of my classes, the orientation of this class is towards doing actual readings. My philosophy of teaching is that you learn astrology by doing astrology, not by talking about astrology. The Sierra mountains will provide an excellent environment for a total-immersion experience in this ancient art.

Part 3. Along the way we will explore some of the elements of Prashna, the astrology of asking questions. I will show you how to use the question chart, in order to make interesting predictions and get deeper insights.
