Letter from Our Chairman - Budget Community Feedback

Dear Fairfax Community,

In December of 2015 we asked for your feedback regarding possible budget cuts to the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). We are thankful to those that took the time to let us know your thoughts and opinions on important programs. You can read a summary of the feedback on our website (see link below).

Our school board and staff read and analyzed your feedback and shared with our colleagues at FCPS in January as they enter in the upcoming budget talks. We remind you if you are a City of Fairfax resident we are your voice to our partners at Fairfax County. If you were unable to respond to our December survey, you are always welcome to contact us at any time. To send an email to our entire board, please use SchoolBoard@FairfaxVa.Gov or you can call our office at 703-385-7911.

We look forward to hearing from you and wish you a safe Presidents' Day Weekend.

Regards,
Toby Sorensen
Chairman
City of Fairfax School Board

State of the School Reports Begin

January kicked off our annual State of the Schools reports. Each month a different principal makes a 30-45 minute presentation to our School Board at our regular school board meeting. It is a great way to see what is going on in our schools. Principal Erin Lenart will present her report on March 7th at 7:30 PM in City Hall. The meetings are all televised on channel 12.

This month, Providence ES principal Jesse Kraft joined his assistant principals Janice Suitte and Dan Philips to discuss test scores, technology integration and how the City of Fairfax supports its schools.

To watch Daniels Run ES (January) and Providence ES (February), click here to go to the City of Fairfax website. You can also read about the presentations in the Connection and in the Patch. Daniels Run ES was profiled in the Fairfax Connection. Providence ES was profiled in the Fairfax City Patch.
