We have a lot to celebrate this holiday season in Fairfax! Fairfax Academy presents Cabaret

 

         

  
Fairfax High School 
- Collected over 2000 pounds of food to donate to Food for Others in November.
- Sponsored a pet supplies and pet food drive in partnership with the Humane Society.
- Regional wins for Field Hockey and Cross Country.
- FHS Band awarded third in the Virginia State band competition at James Madison University.
- Held the first "See You on the Square" outdoor wresting match in Old Town Fairfax.
- Presented the first high school production of Broadway's "Love/Sick".
- Three members of FHS choir earned Virginia Senior Honors Choir.
                               

Fairfax Academy for Communications and the Arts

- Hosted delegation of educators from China

- Launched first social media marketing class in the county.

- Three Music and Computer Technology students were awarded scholarships at the NOVA-Annandale Symphony Orchestra.

- Korean teacher Ms. Johnston and students presented to the school board at the October Spotlight on Learning. 


Lanier Middle School 

- Celebrated International Night with students and their families.

- Named a Virginia Naturally School for the 4th consecutive year.

- National RAMP recognition for counseling program.

- Thirty-six students named to District IX Honors Choir.

- Hosted international educator delegations from China and Saudi Arabia.

 

 

               
  

Providence Elementary School

 - Principal Jesse Kraft named 2015 Educator of the Year by Leadership Fairfax.

- PES STEM Lab recognized as the 2015 Program of the Year by the Virginia Technology and Engineering Education Association.

- Held a two week "Hour of Code" for students to learn coding.

- Continued to grow the "All Pro Dads" group  - welcoming Dads (and Moms!) into the school.

- Participated with the FHS Pyramid to stand up to bullying - see photo above of staff members wearing their "Stand By Me" t-shirts. 

 


Daniels Run Elementary School 

- Awarded Eco-Schools USA Green Flag Award from the National Wildlife Federation.
- Held its third annual "Hour of Code" for students to learn coding.
- Raised $500 for its Food 4 Thought program through its No Sale Yard Sale event.
- Hosted education delegation from Australia.
