Dear City of Fairfax Parents, Staff, Students and Residents,

In June, I had the honor to sit on the stage at Fairfax High School's graduation.  It is one of my favorite events of the school year.  Graduation is always bittersweet - a time to reflect on past endeavors and celebrate with our accomplished young men and women as they transition to their future filled with high hopes, boundless optimism and great promise.  For a school board member, it is an extremely gratifying occasion.  We all agree -- our students make our community proud!

Today I join our City Council and leave the School Board after almost thirty years of service.  It has been a great privilege and honor to work on behalf of one of the Commonwealth's finest school divisions with such talented individuals.  There is not enough time or space to name them all, but I wanted to reach out to everyone in the community to say thank you for providing excellent opportunities for all our students.  I promise I will continue to keep our schools as one of my top priorities as I transition to the City Council and I look forward to the new challenges ahead.

Thank you to everyone for all of your support.

With sincerely appreciation,

Janice Miller

Former Chairman, City of Fairfax School Board

City of Fairfax City Council
