From President

Carol Green

March 15, 2014

Greetings!

Spring is an exciting time in PTA.  It's a time of transition for PTA leaders, a time of enjoying activities for Parent Teacher Associations and a time of renewal for all who work on behalf of children and youth in our communities.
Transition:  We hold PTA elections in March and April so that new leaders have time to work with current leaders to learn what needs to be done and participate in trainings such as the California State PTA Convention, Ninth District's Summer Leadership Conference and trainings at your Councils.  Newly elected PTA boards should begin planning for the year ahead with school principals.  This time of transition is important to the continued success of the association.
Enjoy: Activities abound in the Spring--there are read-a-thons, jog-a-thons and spring sings.  There are promotions, proms and graduations.  Don't forget to enjoy and smell the roses--it is almost spring after all and having fun should be part to your PTA experience!
A time of renewal:  If you are an outgoing PTA leader--take a deep breath and enjoy the home stretch.  Be excited for the upcoming activities and finishing the opportunity to finish your term on a high note. Put some energy into helping your successor--remember you want to leave a lasting legacy for all the children in your community.  If you are a new PTA leader or taking on a new position take advantage of this planning and training time--imagine all the tings you can do for children and families.
All of us at Ninth District PTA look forward to helping you transition, enjoy and renew this spring.

Carol Green

Thank you,

Carol

Festival Week, March 15 through 21, 2014, consists of six days of learning, interaction and behind-the-scenes opportunities for kids in grades kindergarten through 12th grade and their families to ignite the love for science, technology, engineering and math. Many of the activities are free and many of them can accommodate school groups, scout troops, and other individuals, students and families.
