From President

Carol Green

September 16, 2013

Greetings!

Welcome to a new school year and a new PTA term.  We're excited to work with you to positively impact the lives of all our children. The Ninth Carol Green District Board of volunteers is ready to help us all have a successful PTA year. It's amazing the difference we can make when we join our voices together.

Like most of us, I joined
PTA when I took my daughter to Kindergarten for the first time. That was 16 years ago, but it seems like yesterday. I can still remember holding her hand as we walked to school that first day. I wanted to be involved, because I wanted the best for my precious child. I knew studies showed that children do better in school when their parents are involved so I joined and volunteered.

Soon I had made that walk to the first day of school with two more children - each with excitement and filled with possibilities. My husband and I continued to join the PTA at every school and volunteer as our lives allowed over the years.

I realized our local PTA could bring wonderful programs to the school to enrich the lives of the students, to educate the parents and to connect to the community.

As my three children grew my interest in advocating for
all children and families also grew, and I volunteered at the Council and District levels of PTA helping to train new volunteers and encourage more members.

Today, I could not be more honored to work with all of you to support not only our local schools
, but local, state and national efforts to improve the education of children and the lives of families throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties and throughout California and the nation.

As we head into the back-to-school season, let
us lend a hand to all of our children - by joining the PTA.
