Greetings!

February already?

Well, it's a good thing the second month this year has one extra day thanks to Leap Year! That should mean we all have one more day to get everything finished! With that said however, we'll be celebrating Family Day in BC on the 8th and in Alberta on the 15th ... so maybe the extra day at the end of the month will just even things out.

If your year is already shaping up to be busy, you'll be interested in some of the stories we're sharing this month, including links for Canada Job grants for training, upcoming events including Insights Discovery Accreditations and Renewals, and how to say NO to things you actually like to do!

So before you tackle that pressing pile in the inbox, take five, top up that mug, and catch up on the latest news and information from Insights Learning and Development.
Leadership development.  Change management.  These tend to be top priorities for many organizations, and yet a significant number of organizations tend to fall far short of their goals for both.

One major reason for this failure is because they treat both leadership development and change management as separate rather than interrelated challenges. Cultural changes cannot happen without leadership, and efforts to change culture are the crucible in which leadership is developed.

Insights Discovery provides a common language that supports both change initiatives and leadership development.

SayNoHow to say No to things you WANT to do

It's relatively easy to free up time to focus on what we've deemed important. But what do you do when you've stopped watching television, given up Facebook and eliminated the half-fat one-hour lattes?  Dorie Clark's article in the Harvard Business Review gives us some pointers on how to say no to things we actually like doing - when it allows us to focus on the meaningful, long-term goals we've set.

If you're faced with a steady stream of good opportunities and you just don't have time to say yes to all of them, here's how you can find the strength to say no, and a few questions you can ask yourself to stay focused. The full story is located here.

Individual employers will be provided with up to $250,000, capped at $10,000 per training participant per fiscal year. Employers must provide 1/3 of the total cost of training and the CJG will cover the remaining 2/3.
