"If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place."
  ~Nora Roberts

September already?  How did that happen?

The kids are back in school, and September marks the start of a very busy season as we ramp up for a fall and winter full of events and learning opportunities.  In many ways, September seems like 'New Years' for businesses, as we all get back into full swing after the summer vacation slow-down.  If you're feeling like you're gearing up for a busy season, you're certainly not alone.

In this month's newsletter, we've got a link to a great article on the key principles of leading change, as well as upcoming events and learning opportunities in Calgary and Vancouver through to December.

So even though it's a busy season, we invite you to take a breath - grab five minutes from your hectic schedule - and catch up on the latest news and information from Insights Learning and Development.

This past month, Insights team members have been working with the Resort Municipality of Whistler to assess the current culture of the organization, and prepare everyone for growth and development over the next few years.  Senior Consultant Kim White worked with Municipal staff to create an on-line assessment to measure the current culture and set the stage for future work.

Leading with the Culture of an organization is the first step in the 10 Principles of Leading Change feature article in Strategy + Business.  By first taking the time to recognize and acknowledge the underlying culture, Change leaders can begin to harness deeply ingrained strengths to energize the change and avoid the problems that might result if they simply planned without input.

The complete article is located here.  If you would like to explore how Insights Learning and Development can help your organization through change, or how we might use survey tools to help you assess the current culture, please contact our office.
Upcoming Events

Learn@Work Month
September 2015
The Canadian Society for Training & Development's national Learn @ Work Month is an annual celebration designed to promote the importance of workplace learning and performance to key stakeholders and the public-at-large. Learning has a positive impact on key business measures such as job performance and productivity and this event showcases how workplace learning makes a difference. During the month of September, workplace learning will be celebrated in organizations big and small through a variety of awareness campaigns, learning activities and professional development events.

Insights  has a limited number of one-hour sessions you can book on a first-come first-served basis to enhance your Learn@Work sessions.  Session details and booking information is available here.
Insights Discovery Accreditation,
Vancouver - October 5-8th (M-Th)
Calgary - November 16-19th (M-Th)

There are now over 30 public and internal Accreditations each year across North America, which demonstrates how many organizations are choosing to bring Insights Discovery 'in house'.  In fact, we always end up with a waiting list for IDA sessions, so if you're considering attending either the September IDA in Calgary or the October session in Vancouver, register now.  Deadlines for both sessions have passed but contact our office to inquire about a waiting list for IDA sessions next spring.
Full details and registration information is located here.

Team Field Trip!

Our Insights Learning and Development team finally had the opportunity to come together in a group meeting as we gathered in Harrison Hot Springs for a two-day Team Meeting and Retreat September 10th and 11th.  Members of the Calgary office flew in first thing Thursday morning and the Vancouver contingent drove out to Harrison to join up and get together.

This was the first time our newly combined offices met together as an intact team, and everyone was really looking forward to the meeting.  Now - if only we had some tools or materials that could have really helped and instruct us on dealing with different personality types ..... and handling things like change.  OH WAIT!  We do - and it proved the perfect opportunity to use our own material in new and exciting ways. Our expanded team is stronger and more focused as a result of this session.
