The garden centres are stocked, and the patio furniture is making its way out of winter storage all around the greater Vancouver area.

April is a time for growth here at Insights too, and we've added some additional resources in the area of virtual learning.

This month, we're featuring an in-depth piece on e-learning from our December conference, as well as updates on events we're hosting or participating in, news of interest to members of our Insights community, and tips and tricks to assist you in your learning and development objectives.

So we invite you to take five, and catch up on the latest news from Insights Vancouver.
Virtual Classrooms - Lessons Learned and Best Practices
null Are you considering e-learning as an option for your learning and development strategies? Cheney Creamer and Dale Nelson of Insights Vancouver are Certified Professional Virtual Facilitators, and at our December conference they shared some lessons learned and best practices in developing virtual learning solutions. The afternoon session featured our work with the BC Ministry of Technology, Innovation and Citizens' Services.

If you're interested in learning about the advantages and pitfalls of on-line learning solutions for your organization, we've compiled an in-depth article on our website, along with links to a number of planning resources for your consideration. We have considerable experience in developing and delivering Insights Discovery workshops in the virtual classroom, so don't hesitate to contact us for more information.

Colour and Productivity

Jayne Tellier, Director Client Solutions at Insights Vancouver always has an eye open for items of interest to the Insights community. This past month, she passed along a link to Entrepreneur.com that really resonates with those of us familiar with 'colour dynamics'.

The infographic at the end of the article references the same four colours as the Insights four colour wheel, and it's interesting to see how these colours impact our working environment. Even the characteristics associated with these colours uses similar language as Insights. You can access the article here.

Thanks Jayne!

Upcoming Events
Discoverylogowithglobe URGENT UPDATE:  Due to a newly expanded venue, the Insights Discovery Accreditation scheduled for May 4th thru 7th in Vancouver has two additional spaces!   The deadline for registration is Monday April 13th so if you're thinking about bringing Insights into your organization, don't wait.  Contact our office immediately if you'd like more information.

Insights Vancouver will be part of the BC HRMA Conference and Tradeshow April 28-29 in Vancouver.  Are you going to be there?  Stop by and say Hi!  It's always great to catch up with folks at this event.

This May, Simon Fraser University (SFU) will host Creating Connections 4.0 and bring together people of all genders and backgrounds for two days to discuss issues of personal and professional development, networking, and inspiration. This is the first time that SFU will host Creating Connections and they are very excited to continue the tradition of creating an opportunity for a meaningful dialogue about the participation of Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology (WEST). The hope is to engage individuals and organizations to create a world where everyone can explore and participate in the opportunities provided by engineering, science and technology to improve our world.

As a part of the conference, Insights Vancouver's own Anne Bishop will lead a 90 minute Insightful Leadership session on Friday, May 22. Anne is a certified Insights Transformational Leadership Practitioner.

Organizations today need leaders to discover ways to inspire and engage diverse individuals and personalities across multi-disciplines and departments and help them to excel. The first step of this leadership journey is understanding self. Attendees will assess the impact and influence of their strengths and possible weaknesses, as well as exploring their leadership style. Complete conference information is available here, along with registration links.

Certified Virtual Classroom Facilitators
Cheney Creamer & Dale Nelson
This past month, Cheney Creamer and Dale Nelson of Insights Vancouver both achieved their Certification as Professional Virtual Learning Facilitators.

This certification strengthens the product offering available through Insights Vancouver to now include distance and e-learning options for our clients.  While the virtual classroom will never be a replacement for real face-to-face learning, it can serve to reinforce and build on concepts delivered via an in-person session to strengthen your ROI (Return on Insights).

If you'd like to learn how virtual learning might fit into your learning and development strategy, contact our office for more details.
A to Z Exercises
AZAt our December Conference, attendees received the A-Z Card Deck, with 26 exercises to improve the effectiveness of their teams.  We thought we'd have some fun and create our own deck of A to Z exercises.

We've already got a few submissions, so help us fill up the alphabet by sharing an exercise that works for you.  Drop us an email with the following details:
  • name of the Exercise,
  • overview,
  • learning objective,
  • materials required to run the exercise,
  • the estimated time required to run the exercise,
  • and instructions on how to run the exercise.

Or you can submit your exercise by filling out the form on our website.

We'll assemble your submissions and then make sure you get a copy of all 26 exercises that have been shared by members of our own Insights community.
