Collaboration Pays Off

Last fall, at their annual Strategic Planning meeting,an intact team established a number of priorities for their next year using the Insights Navigating Team Effectiveness models.  One of those goals was collaboration. Team members sometimes felt they were developing programs and offerings in isolation, with very little input on content or design by other members.  It was agreed that collaboration among team members would allow this team - and the entire organization - to develop offerings that were stronger and more robust overall.

This spring, several members of the team met to work together on creating a series of learning modules for a specific client.  Input from a number of team members, working in concert with key personnel within the organization, lead to the creation and completion of a unique and powerful learning series.

In the debrief following the project completion, team members shared their observations and feelings that the project had been one of the best they'd worked on.  Members left with the belief the products developed were among the strongest and most inspiring they'd been involved with, and they looked forward to collaborating on future projects with team members.  One team member stated "I was at a workshop once where we were encouraged to catalogue/document the experiences that we have that go above and beyond our wildest expectations in terms of success - and this is one I will catalogue for sure". In addition, the client commented that the final product had far exceeded their initial expectations.

This team, by the way, was the Insights Vancouver core team, working in concert with one of our clients.  We believe in 'practicing what we preach' to others, and the collaboration on this project proved our team could reach new heights in design, development and deployment.

If you are looking to get more from your teams, or want to dig deeper into Insights Navigating Team Effectiveness, give us a call.  We know we can help.
Congratulations Cheney!

lodge

Insights Vancouver's own Cheney Creamer has just embarked on a three-month Internship to help her to move towards her Horticultural Therapy Registered certification - on the island of Molokai in Hawaii!

From now through mid-July, Cheney will be taking part in a Natural Plant Reforestation project taking land damaged by decades of misuse and invasive species and helping return it to native sustainability.  The goal is to rebuild a native forest that doesn't require ongoing maintenance. Cheney will be seed-collecting in the native forests, doing nursery work, and out-planting some 45 different native plants in the field.

In addition, Cheney will be developing Meditation and Stress workshops for spaces in Hawaii and also consulting on curriculum development for the Hui Ho'olana Centre. You can check out their
website at www.huiho.org.

We know Cheney will be bringing back a number of new tools and exercises for her Re-Igniting Spirit workshops, and the Learning to Flourish sessions. (Don't forget to bring back a pineapple or two for the Insights Vancouver Team!)
