Why the need for a Measuring Stick? Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) Georgia has joined 44 other states, the District of Columbia (D.C.), and 2 territories, along with the Department of Defense Education Activity, in formally adopting a set of core standards for kindergarten through high school in English language arts, mathematics, and grades 6-12 literacy in science, history/social studies, and technical subjects. Who has the KEYS? Educator Keys: Teacher and Leader The research confirms what every parent already knows: an effective teacher can make all the difference in the life of a child. Its findings were shocking: replacing a poor teacher with even an average teacher would raise a single classroom's lifetime earnings by about $266,000. This study is just one of many that have repeatedly quantified that effective teachers create positive impacts for students and that using student growth to measure teacher quality is a vital measure.
