SAVE THE DATE!
Interfaith Coalition's Annual Hope Auction
Saturday, March 23, 2013
You will enjoy an evening of fun and community spirit, and the proceeds will support housing for homeless families and health care for all in need. The auction is Interfaith's biggest fundraising event, and raises more than one-third of Interfaith's annual income. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Best Western Lakeway Inn in Bellingham. Tickets are on sale now for $45 each, which includes a sit-down dinner.
You also may support the event by contributing an item to be auctioned. If you can provide a service, getaway home, art or craft item, gift certificate or other sought-after item , then you have something to offer that would raise money to assist local people in need. The coalition also is seeking financial support to help underwrite the auction.
For more information, tickets, or to make a donation, please call Interfaith Coalition at 734-3983, or contact Sue Cole, who represents our congregation on the coalition board.

Youth Event in Bellevue
Speaker: Nadia Bolz-Weber
Sat, Mar 2
Pastor Nadia Bolz-Weber may be as memorable to you for her tattoos and edgy persona as for her session on the cross in the Animate series or her speaking at the National Youth Gathering. Either way, she is a dynamic person of faith, with an especially relevant way of speaking to youth. We'll head down to Bellevue to hear her speak at this special youth event put on by the NW Washington Synod.

Cross Perspectives: Why Did Jesus Die?
Many people today owe their understanding of why Jesus died to Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, a film that has grossed more than a billion dollars worldwide since its release in 2004. A closer look at the New Testament, however, reveals explanations for how and why Jesus died that differ considerably from Gibson's account. This series explores each interpretation of Jesus' death in the New Testament, illustrating the rich diversity of explanations that Paul and the Gospel writers gave for how and why Jesus died on the cross.

LIFE AT FAITH
Go. Remember. Serve.
Through the season of Advent, through Christmas, and journeying our way into Epiphany, we followed the singing and laughter of the children..."These little feet may not look like much, they cannot walk very far. But these little feet can be a messenger of God, to follow the Christmas star!" We gathered in darkness and candlelight, in anticipation, all of us on the road to Bethlehem. We sang carols and celebrated the coming of the baby, God Incarnate, the one who turned the world upside down! And we gathered to eat, to rest, to laugh, to sing, to share root beer floats! On the Sunday of Epiphany, the children helped take us through the house blessing, and we wrote in chalk on the front of the church, while families took the same blessing to their own homes. And in everything, we are grateful for the ways in which we teach each other to follow the light.
May peace and light be with you all throughout this new year!
