Greetings!
I am often asked by river groups if they should have insurance. The simple answer is yes, especially for liability insurance. The next question I get is how much should an insurance policy cost. While I have heard from some of you about what you pay for insurance, I thought it would be helpful to gather some data about what polices groups have and how much they cost. Please take a few minutes to complete a your group has and how much they cost. I will share this information in the next issue of the TRIB so you can compare your organization to others around the state. I have also shared a some information about insurance below. Regards,
Allison Werner
Local Groups Program Manager
P.S. Please forgive the long summer vacation the TRIB took this year. Please let me know if there are topics you would like to learn more about in a future issue of the TRIB. Thanks!

Insurance Resources
|
| If you would like more information about insurance take a look at our Liability and Risk Management tool on our website. We also have a second tool that includes risk management tips for groups with staff. River Alliance has many resources like this one to help groups in our Watershed Advocate Toolkit.

Influencing Public Policy in the Digital Age |
| River Alliance also gets many questions about the rules around advocacy, lobbying, or voicing your group's opinions about policy. With increased use of Facebook, Twitter and other social media, the rules about lobbying can get a little confusing. Our friends at River Network sent around a new publication from the Alliance for Justice about the rules for influencing public policy through electronic methods. You can read their publication here.
