We are Thankful!
We are thankful for the way God is using Edwens to lead the mission in Haiti and abroad. We are thankful for all the other leaders we have in place to handle the various aspects of the mission, including newly appointed sponsorship program volunteers George and Char Frank. We are thankful for those who fund the feeding program. We are thankful for the groups that come to help with the medical work, preaching, training pastors, teaching and construction.
We are thankful for the projected hospital expansion, new buildings, upgrades to school and church buildings, and the peanut butter factory. We are thankful for those who are working on the possibility of providing the orphan children a new home and those who are on the wait list for new construction on their land. We are thankful for the great job the board members that stepped down did and for the wonderful job the new board members are doing. We are thankful for Sara Dessieux who has resumed her editing work in presenting the mission to friends and donors.
We are thankful for all the support the churches supply to keep the mission going. It is growing stronger. On Sunday, November 9th, the mother church celebrated its 40th anniversary. The following Sunday was the ordination of four pastors held at the church in Simonette: Frederic Deliscar and Sadrac Agnant who will pastor at Simonette, Ismel Lubain, our sponsorship director who is not yet assigned to a church, and Obias Exilus, pastor of the La Croix Perisse church.
We are thankful that our youngest son Marcus and his new wife Christy are enjoying life in a loving way in Florida. Their wedding was a total success on the Caribbean island of Turks and Caicos on October 25th. Over 150 people from the USA, Canada and Haiti were present. The theme was "Let them go", and so they left to live their lives.
We are thankful for the birth of Christ in this world that gives all Christians a new hope for a better life and a better perspective. The light of Christ is shining on the Haitian people and Haitian Christian Mission is holding the torch while our supporters are furnishing the oil to keep it burning. This year the mission has baptized 820 people and we expect even more by the end of the year. What a victory in the name of Christ!
If you have a special gift for the mission or your sponsored child, it will be deeply appreciated. HCM has payments to make and salaries to pay plus a lot of hungry people to feed during the holiday season. Yet, we are thankful. Yes, we are. We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous new year!
