We are experiencing some big changes at HCM that we wanted to let you know about. After four years of dedicated service, Wendy Zehner has resigned from her position as Director of Operations. Wendy managed many facets of HCM, so for now we are dispersing her work among a team of volunteers.
Char and George Frank in Pasco, Washington are taking charge of the sponsorship program stateside. They will be spending the month of October in Haiti where they plan to visit all of the schools where HCM has sponsored student and get themselves well acquainted with the ins and outs of the program. Dr. Cheryl Fogarty and the Juno Group in Joplin, Missouri are taking over mission trips. Dr. Fogarty travels often to Haiti and has agreed to be in communication with teams planning trips to HCM. We have many other excellent leaders over other facets of the mission as well. Edwens is currently spending some time in the states, speaking on behalf of the mission and meeting with volunteers and supporters. He feels very confident about those he has running things in Haiti in his absence. Etienne and Betty Prophete continue to step in as needed to help out. Things never seem to slow down for HCM in Haiti. We must keep pressing forward. Right though, we are truly facing difficult times financially. Each month we are starting to fall short of our budget. We need to be able to pay our many employees and we need to be able to feed lunch to all our school children. If you are able to give anything extra at this time, you can be assured it will go straight to paychecks that support families in Haiti and to feed children who may not eat otherwise. For forty years, the Lord has been providing for us at HCM and we trust fully that He will continue to do so. Another need we have right now is benches for our schools and churches. We have new buildings and old buildings that require benches. With the beginning of the school year quickly approaching, we really need about 700 benches which cost about $70 a piece. More than anything, we ask for your prayers. Pray for Edwens during this time of transition and financial difficulty that he would be filled with wisdom as he must make major decisions. Pray for people to be generous toward HCM. Two more important things: We are moving to Florida!! This has been a goal of ours for many years. Therefore, we will soon be changing our mailing address.
