Greetings! When I decided to share with my readers the reasons why I use rugs in my decorating projects, the whole process reminded me of all the decorating solutions rugs can provide for us. Rugs are the perfect answer for so many design dilemmas but the main reason I love introducing Area Rugs into the room is that they add visual interest, comfort and beauty to the overall décor. My Six-Step Design Process for Area Rug Shopping

Step-1

Before I ever go rug shopping for my clients, I have drawn the room to scale to see what would be the best ranges in size that will suite their needs.

Step-2

I have now determined the correct shape and size of the rug I am seeking.

Step-3

I have samples of the room's color story.

Step-4

I have pre-determined the room's decor scheme needs such as size, shape, color, texture, pattern, and if an overall ornamental decoration is needed as a Décor strengthening element.

Step-5

I have pre-determined if the rug needs to take center stage or quietly blend into the room's background. Will the area rug be the "Leading Pattern" for the whole room's décor?

Step-6

If you have done your homework you are now ready to go rug shopping. It is happy hunting time for that perfect area rug. Davetta
