Praying for You
Sunday's gospel reading (John 17:20-27) is first and foremost a prayer. It is Jesus' prayer, and we are given the privilege of listening in as he prays on behalf of his disciples and people of all times and places. Listeners are given a glimpse of Jesus' mission for the world-that all may be drawn into the life of the triune God. On the eve of his death, Jesus entrusts this particular community of disciples-but also our communities, our lives, and our world-into the care of God.
What is it Jesus is doing when he prays? What is it the church does when it prays on behalf of the world and other people? To be prayed for by another is to know one's life is cared for and has value to the one praying on your behalf. It is to know that much of the future is out of one's own control but rests instead in the care of the Triune God. To be prayed for is to be vulnerable, dependent, and deeply loved. Here is the astoundingly good news: Jesus prays for you, and for the communities in which we find ourselves. Whether your cup is empty or full, whether your community is in crisis or experiencing joy, whether your future is foggy or clear, Jesus loves you deeply and your life is bound to the God who loved you before the foundations of the world. On the eve of his death, Jesus entrusted your life and the church's life and its entire future to the Father. What glorious good news that the future rests in the care of the Triune God, and that we, the church, are set free to make God known to the world. [Sundays and Seasons, 2016] Set free we gather in worship to be fed and forgiven--see you Sunday! Bill+

Mary Lou Cochrane Memorial Service Saturday at 11:00 am
|
Mary Louise Cochrane passed away in Laconia, NH, Tuesday, May 3, 2016 after a long illness.
She is survived by her brother Bill Snyder and his wife Ann, her daughter Meg Cochrane and her husband Denny Redman, her son Mark Cochrane and his wife Sheila Cochrane, and three grandchildren Eliot and Christopher Cochrane and Emma Redman. She grew up in Westwood, NJ and attended St. Luke's Nursing School in New York City graduating with her R.N. in 1951. She married John Cochrane the same year and they moved to Woodbury, CT where raised their family until moving to Durham, NH in 1969. They also lived in Tennessee and Georgia before retiring to Wolfeboro, NH where they lived a very happy and contented life for 28 years. Wherever they lived, Mary Lou involved herself in her community and church's numerous activities and was devoted to public service all of her life. She and her husband John lived their principles of equal opportunity, compassion and leaving their world a better place. Losing her ability to contribute to her many causes and to be active in her community caused her great sadness. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00am at All Saints Episcopal Church, South Main Street, Wolfeboro, NH. Remembrances can be made in the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts/ New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA 02472.

| CROP Walk May 22 |
Calling all those who care about fighting hunger and poverty, promoting peace and justice! This year's CROP WALK will be on May 22 starting at 1pm from the First Congregational Church, Wolfeboro. Join All Saints', First Congregational, North Barnstead church confirmation class, KRHS Knights Against Hunger, Life Minstries Board Members and other community members as we raise money and awareness to end hunger one step at a time.
How can you participate? Be a walker. We walk because people around the world walk for clean water, to school, to support their families. Let's make visible our concern and action around the issue of poverty and hunger around the world. If you would like to be a walker, email Susan Fuller at sfuller5277@yahoo.com to get the materials you need to walk. You can also sponsor a walker. Walkers will be available at coffee hours beginning May 8 to sign up sponsors and accept donations. Or you can make a donation online for the All Saint's Team by going to All Saints' Church - Wolfeboro CROP Hunger Walk. JOIN US in ending hunger one step at a time!
