Rector's Reflections
Talk about Variety!

Epiphanies don't just happen in church-a sudden insight can lead to a "Eureka!" in scientific experiments, an "Aha!" in a detective's casework, a "Checkmate!" in a fierce chess game, and even a self-satisfied "Yes!" in Sudoku, crosswords, or finding a set of lost keys. So, too, epiphanies about the true nature of Christ come in a variety of words, actions, and places in our gospel readings during the Sundays after Epiphany.

First wise men from the east, then a dove from heaven and the voice of God, and now water into wine-all pointing to the glory and wonder of God-made-flesh. Just as we have been created and blessed with varieties of gifts, services, and activities, so too has God created and blessed us with varieties of epiphanies throughout human history. In our world that so often relies on an us-versus-them mentality, can we see the rich tapestry of differences as part of God's glory? Will we be able to look past our traditions, our comfort zone, and our familiarities to see the glorious diversity of God's revelation? Are we open to an epiphany in any form so that we can in fact "do whatever he tells you" (John 2:5)?

Sunday and next week I'll be on vacation with seminary friends and their families. Please welcome the Rev. Jane Van Zandt on Sunday and contact the church office 569-3453 with any pastoral needs and Donna will connect you with an area clergy person.

May the diversity and glory of God surprise you during this time after Epiphany!

Peace+

Bill

Vestry Applications
Our Diocese recommends that we follow a template for election of officers. By following this recommendation we will have a balance of church officers leaving and coming onto the vestry each year.

At the annual meeting this year we will vote on the following church officers:
  • Sr. Warden - 3 yr. term
  • Clerk          - 3 yr. term
  • One vestry member - 3 yr. term
  • One vestry member - 1 yr. term  (That individual will fill Dave Knox's term)
Applications for these church positions will be included in the E-News and also be available in the church office and at the back of the sanctuary.  Applications should be submitted to the church office or collection plate by Sunday, January 24th.

A nominating committee will meet on January 26th to select and recommend a slate of officers.

The nominating committee members are:
Sarah Day - Vestry Representative
Jane Newcomb - At large member
Don Johnson - At large member
Arlene Salzgeber - At large member
Phil Wasmuth - At large member & Chairman

Respectfully submitted,
Phil Wasmuth

ECW Annual Meeting
Phil Wasmuth caught up with these intrepid ECW (Episcopal Church Women) members who braved the elements to attend the Annual Meeting on January 13th.

Give Light - 1/8/2016 - Selection of Phil Wasmuth's photos
Beginning the candle light walk to Congregational Church.

Rev. Fred Small led the crowd in song and spirit.

Editor's note: Fred shared many wonderful insights, raised thoughtful questions, and led the group in several songs. The link below features his favorite, "The Tide is Rising" by Rabbi Shoshana Meira Friedman & Yotam Schachter . I wish the whole world could hear it, so I will start with you! I hope you enjoy it as much I do. "The task is mighty.... and so are we!" -Phoebe

Life Ministries

The L.I.F.E. Ministries Food Pantry, located in our All Saints' Outreach Center building is open every Wednesday, from 10:00am to 1:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The food pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers, with no paid positions. The L.I.F.E. Ministries Board of Directors is made up of 2 representatives from each of the 7 local area sponsoring Churches.

The food pantry is blessed by the generosity of many local churches, businesses, schools, clubs and individuals who faithfully support those in need in our community. Food donations are passed directly to our clients, and monetary donations are used to purchase supplemental food products at local grocery stores and the New Hampshire Food Bank.

Started in 1985, the food pantry now a certified 501C3 non-profit organization has provided assistance to a growing number of families, providing each member of a family with 3 meals per day for 3 days a week. The pantry averaged 128 families a week in 2015 and distributed 142,039 meals in 2015.
