Tag-You're It!

Jesus has been raised from the dead and has appeared in a variety of ways to convince people of God's power. On Ascension Day (which was Thursday), Jesus is taken to heaven, but not without promises and action plans for those who remain. Wait here! (Ready?) You will receive power to be witnesses throughout the whole earth. You will receive a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know God. You will receive an inheritance. (Set . . .) You will know hope. You, the church, are Christ Jesus' body, even as his body disappears from sight. (Go!)

It's like a holy game of tag in which Jesus tags followers, saying, "You're it. Now, you're me in the world." These are words we gather in worship to wait for, and we don't have long to wait. As we dip fingers in the font, we touch promises. We're a part of Christ's family. As we meet at the table, we taste promises. We become Christ's body. And next Sunday is Pentecost-Holy Spirit, come-this is the one who comes as promised, to call, bring together, inspire, and make holy.

These promises connected to Jesus' ascension result in the biblical stories about followers who worship, bless God, gain hopeful attitudes and a sense of mission. The two men in white robes urged those gazing up toward heaven to get going! We also need a similar prompt: This living Jesus comes the same way as you saw him go. So watch for the presence of Christ, powerfully making the church his body. Watch for the presence of Christ, whenever the church pours itself out in love for others. As we come to know him and the hope to which he has called us, may we have open minds, enlightened hearts, and be clothed with power from on high.

One way to celebrate Jesus' Ascension is to join us this evening for our "Welcome Back *Snowbirds" potluck at 6:00 pm. *Note: all "birds" are welcome!

Sharing God's Blessings:
Responding Gratefully

Respond gratefully to what God has first given us. All that we do is a response to God's grace. Everything we are, have, and use comes from God. Best of all, God gives the gift of Jesus Christ and the community of believers. It all begins with God. Our confession of faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is not of our doing. Grateful stewards put God first. "...but they gave themselves first to the Lord." 2 Corinthians 8:5

Summer Fair Collection Begins 6/8

Summer Fair Collection to begin Monday, June 8th in the Parish Hall The move of summer fair items from the garage to the parish hall will be after 10 AM Sunday service on June 7th. Please begin to gather good condition Items for donation to our fair, which is our largest fundraiser of the year. Be sure to remember: no cribs, computers, televisions, curtains, bed pillows, magazines or textbooks.

Host Family Wanted
Need one more host family for a pair of Cypriot teens in July. The Cyprus Friendship Program will be bringing 30 Greek-Cypriot/Turkish-Cypriot pairs of teens to the US for the month of July to build friendships not possible at home on their divided island. Eight pairs will be hosted in New Hampshire. (Jeannie and Warren Muir will be hosting a pair of boys.) CFP is seeking one last family to host a pair of boys for two weeks starting June 30. What is needed is a safe, neutral place for the boys to get to know one another, a single bedroom to share, and daylong adult supervision. There will be group activities on two or three days during the two weeks. Please contact Warren Muir (wrmuir@gmail.com) or 202-495-1128, if you might be interested.
