Rector's Reflections

This Sunday we will mark All Saints Day in worship. The readings for the day are filled with the contrasting images of death and life, condemnation and redemption, sorrow and joy, suffering and relief, present life and future life. Such is our life, full of contrasts as children of God, we are all saintly sinners and sinful saints--all at the same time.

Thankfully through the waters of baptism, we are made saints while we are still sinners. In the powerful baptismal waters we are buried with Christ in his death. By the powerful waters of baptism, we share in Jesus' resurrection. Through the powerful waters of baptism, we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. And each and every day we wade through rough waters of evil, pain, heartache, addiction, abuse, hunger, disease, and things that imprison and keep us from God.

But wading with us is Jesus who has waded and walked with the faithful for generations. We wade with saints past and present, the great cloud of witnesses who splash in the saving waters of baptism. On All Saints Day we give thanks for the saints who have gone before us, for the saints still among us, and for the saints of God still to come. We give thanks for their faithful living, for their faithful acts of service, and for God's promised presence in life today and the eternal one the saints who have died now share.

+ Bill

Stewardship is sharing the gifts we have been given...

Picture the places where God is working in your life. Where is God present in your family life, in your work and play, in your neighborhood and larger community, in your church? Holding onto those images, people and places you've pictured, what do you want to say to God right now?

Thank You!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you... Anne Hunt would like to thank Georgia Mosher for supplying baked goods for 10 am coffee hour last week even though she was not able to attend service.

ChIPS

For 38 years, NH Episcopal congregations have been supporting a Christmas gifts program for the children of parents incarcerated in the NH state prison system. At All Saints for the past two decades our campaign has taken the intergenerational approach: we adults contribute cash, or checks in any amount ($20 is recommended for each child) payable to All Saints with ChIPs on the memo line, and the Church School kids go shopping with their adult leaders. We like this method because the kids know what to buy: they are experts on the coolest toys and gifts. They also know the rules: no toy weapons, no Play Doh, glue or crayons, no knitting needles, crochet hooks, glass or sharp tools, and no clothing. Sporting equipment, CDs and board games are among the desirable items, along with toys for younger children. Participants are also invited to donate a new children's book for any age up to 15. THE TIME IS NOW. There is a green wrapped gift box with a slot in it for your donations, needed by Nov. 2 at the latest. So we adults have just two Sundays to get our cash to the shoppers so they can do their part in this vital ministry. All Saints Diocesan Convention folks will transport the toys to Convention Saturday morning, Nov. 8, where a truck will receive all the gifts and deliver them for sorting.

- Thanks, Cate McMahon

UTO Ingathering

United Thanks Offering (UTO) Fall Ingathering is typically accepted during Diocesan Convention. There is a table near the registration desk at the Grappone Center that will accept parish checks for UTO contributions Saturday morning, Nov. 8. These will be presented all together during the Offertory. Our parish treasurer will be making out a check for any amount remaining in the account since the Spring Ingathering, PLUS any UTO money you contribute from your Blue Boxes on the next two Sundays.

Election Day Bake Sale - November 4th

Please be thinking of donating a baked good for the ECW Bake Sale. The proceeds are used to support our outreach charities. Items needed are baked good, sandwiches, And soups. Items may be brought to the chapel the day before or the morning of sale. Any questions, contact Dianne Wasmuth at 569-3526 or diannewasm@yahoo.com.

Photo Directory Make Up Day: 11/19

In case you missed the Lifetouch photo sessions in October, makeup photos will be taken Wed 11/19 from 2 pm until 9pm. These photos will make up our directory so participation  by as many All Saints members as possible is most appreciated! Please call the church office if you have any questions. 569-3453

Electronic Parish Directory

Donna will be printing new parish directories soon with all of Pastor Bill's info and the latest parish list. Would anyone like to see this listing electronically instead of paper form? We would get the directory on the eNews and then when it is updated (we would let you know revision has happened) you could just view or print from home. Please let us know your thoughts on this. We would always keep the paper directory but if this works, we could be saving a lot of paper. Thanks.

Bulletins

We are still looking for your feedback on the bulletin. Any comment is welcome. Please share your feedback with Donna, our parish administrator, and Bill, our rector, over the coming weeks.

Note of Thanks

The following note was received from the Blodget family:

Dear Pastor Bill and the All Saint's Team,

Our family wanted you all to know how much we appreciated everything you did to make Dad's farewell very special. The service, music, homily, reception, and all the extras - cookies, kindness, kitchen help, technical photo help, tissues, program, and everything everyone did was truly comforting and helpful. To name everyone would be impossible so please know how thankful we are for everything and share our thanks with all!

We Make the Road by Walking Bible Study

This group meets every Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the library. All are welcome to attend.

Women's Bible Study

Joyce Lake leads a bible study on Mondays in the library at 10 am. She uses the book Following Christ...The Man of God. It is a study of John 6-14 and this center section of John's gospel allows us to walk by Jesus' side as he impacts those around him, modeling love, grace, and humility. It's impossible to closely follow Jesus and remain unchanged. Place yourself in each scene, grasp every detail. In these chapters, you will find living truths designed to leave their marks on our lives. Take them in and allow the living water to carve your life into a pattern after God's own heart.

L&T Hours Change 11/6

Effective 11/6/14, Thursday and Friday hours will change to 10 am until 3 pm. Saturdays will remain the same, 10 am until 1 pm.

Food Pantry Needs
All Saints is going to be featuring a food monthly that is in need for the Life Ministries Food Pantry. We welcome any and all donations of non-perishable items. November's food is applesauce. Please place donations in the basket in the narthex. Thank you for all donations!
