Sunday Services

This week we rejoice in our first official Sunday celebration with our new permanent Rector William "Bill" Petersen!

8:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist

10:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist with Choir

From the Rector

Dear People of All Saints,

I'm looking forward to preaching and presiding with you in worship Sunday at 8:00 or 10:00 am!

The texts are wonderful and familiar as Jesus feeds the hungry gathered and in doing so reveals the abundance of God. Jesus meets physical earthly needs by feeding the crowds and continues each Sunday to offer himself as holy meal, freely given to all, no matter who they are. While our consumer society and savvy marketers have trained us to see anything "FREE" as having a catch, or some sort of fine print, each Sunday we are invited to trust and receive Jesus' free gift of love without worrying about something up his sleeve or a scheme to scam us.

At the Eucharist we will gather at the Lord's table to remember all who are hungry or poor in our world today and be fed ourselves. Come share the bread of life given for you that sustains us all as we are sent forth to give ourselves away as bread for a world that hungers for so much (especially Jesus).

Blessings+

Bill

Summer Fair Wrap Up

As of July 27th, the net income from the Fair was $17,818. This is expected to be revised upwards as money is still coming in, and a few expenses are still outstanding. The final total will be reported when we have it. It was our pleasure to chair the Fair this year and its success was due to all who worked so hard. Thank you for all your help and support.

July 30, 2014

Dear Friends,

What a wonderful retirement Sunday service, farewell reception and send-off you gave me!  Thank you, thank you!

Throughout my last months with you there were many opportunities for me to be with the people I had served with over the last two years.  There were times to share our appreciation with each other.  Times for you to share your appreciation for my gifts, the ways I had helped you to grow or change or deepen your life and ministries. There were times for me to share how much I appreciated the welcome you gave me and mine, the ways you had let me share my particular way of doing things and push you to worship, think and approach things differently as well as the ways you were familiar with and love.  Your welcome allowed me to change and grow and be so grateful that this retirement tour was among you.  Thank you!

Being able to share that "retirement Sunday" with not only you but also with Gina and the First Congregation Church, Wolfeboro (FCCW), was also very special.  Our time here in Wolfeboro, working with Father Cole from St. Katharine, Drexel, and Rev. Gina from FCCW, has given me, and I think us, a vision of how we Christian people can work together not only to do this most important work of healing God's broken Creation, but experience the joy, wonder and transforming depth of it as well.  Thank you.

And then there was that wonderful reception with all those delightful gluten free foods to sustain and delight us all.  You could have put out a special gluten free plate for me, but having us all share in this together told a very different and powerful story about us being in this journey together.  Thank you.

What most of you did not see, was the before and after gathering to help the Stelz/Rice household move our many things.  We packed for weeks before our Irish family came to visit and the day before they arrived, a number of you appeared with SUVs and trucks and in several hours, it was all in our new garage in Barnstead.  Then after the farewell, all the books in my office were transported graciously and in a similar fashion by All Saints' hands, vehicles and backs.  Thank you.

Then there were the special remembrances and gifts shared at the farewell reception.  You are a remarkably generous lot!!  There was that slide show highlighting our time together, the memories captured on board and mug-the one of the baptism of our granddaughter at All Saints' will be a family heirloom for generations.  And there were the wonderful words you shared and that generous financial gift way beyond expectations.  Thank you, thank you!

We have done good work together, established a good foundation for your new rector to build upon and even had fun in the leave-taking.  I am most grateful.

Yours in Christ Jesus,

The Rev. Edward G. (Ted) Rice

A Gentle Reminder

Dear brothers and sisters of All Saints,

At our parish finance committee meeting last month, we learned from Treasurer Don Hargy that pledge income to date is significantly below the actual pledges we made at the beginning of the year. As we prepare to welcome our new rector, the Rev. Bill Petersen, you are invited to take a look at what you pledged and, insofar as possible, bring it up to date. We would like to have the welcome mat out for Bill in all the ways we can to help get our parish family and its new pastor off to the best start possible, together. As you know, a pledge may be adjusted up or down at any time, upon notification to the parish treasurer.

If you have any questions, please call Parish Administrator Donna Young or Treasurer Don Hargy.  Thanks.

 From the Music Corner

Happy August to all!

For me, this month holds much musical planning, numerous projects, and time with our new pastor as we begin navigating this journey together.  Your prayers are appreciated as we all find a new rhythm. Our choir is resting for most of this month, but many of their voices will enliven our hymn singing in the 10 AM services.

Some special musical offerings are being planned, along with the dedication of our new digital Kurzweil keyboard, given so generously by the Lawrence Tufts family this past winter.

Mark your calendars:

August 3rd - Michelle Coffey sings "Knowing You", a lovely contemporary piece based on chapter 3 of Philippians

August 10th - Inspiring college-age sisters, Amanda and Jessica Hiittner of Moultonborough, will share 2 of their original songs with us; "Hold On" and "Makes Me Want To Sing". Voices, keyboard, violin and guitar highlight their offerings.  Watch for their bio in next week's eNews and bulletin.

August 17th - The Kurzweil keyboard will be down front, highlighting different sounds throughout our service, and Kingswood senior Stacey Kelleher will share a solo entitled "Every Season".  Available choir members will also aid in hymn singing and communion music.

May you know the peace and love of our Savior as these summer weeks continue to fly by -- filled with family, friends, the joy of glorious weather (in between large thunderstorms! :0), and the gift of walking with God each and every day!

Flower Delivery Team Needs You

Quilters' Fundraiser for Children's Advocacy Center

The Ladies of the Lakes Quilters' Guild (LLQG), a non-profit organization of 160 Winnipesaukee quilters, is sponsoring a Quilt Sale on Friday and Saturday, August 8 & 9, from 10am - 4pm, at All Saints. All quilts and quilt-related items are donated by LLQG with one-hundred percent (100% )of the proceeds donated to the Children's Advocacy Center of Carroll County (CACCC).

With offices in Wolfeboro and Conway, the CACCC is a non-profit agency that relies on the generosity of donors in the Lakes Region to fund its operations. The CACCC seeks to minimize the trauma that child abuse victims and their non-offending family members experience by working with a team of professionals to provide a collaborative approach to child abuse investigations. These services are available and used by all of Carroll County's Law Enforcement Agencies, the Carroll County Attorney's Office, and the NH Division of Children, Youth, and Families.

Since the inception of the CACCC in 2006, more than 700 children and their non-offending caregivers have been served by the Center.  The CACCC is also home to Westin, New Hampshire's first Child Advocacy Center Facility dog.

Please visit the sale on August 8 & 9 to purchase a beautiful homemade quilt or a quilted item at very reasonable prices to support the good work of the CACCC.
