Sunday Services

Slideshows by Phil Wasmuth

We've just finished the Easter season, with many spiritual events at our church.  I've included for your viewing pleasure a 5 minute or so slide show of the Saturday Night Vigil Church Service.  This service was child-centered, and the children did a fabulous job of making this service special and spiritual.

This past Sunday Ted and Pat's granddaughter Maggie Eva Brunk was baptized.  While the baptism held special meaning for Ted, Pat, and Maggie's family. It, too, was a beautiful and spiritual experience for our congregation.

I've included the links to both the Saturday Night Vigil and the short slide show of Maggie Brunk's baptism for your viewing pleasure. You'll love seeing the children taking an active role in the Saturday Night Vigil and helping with communion, and Maggie Brunk was radiant in her baptism as were her grandparents and parents and sister.

Best wishes and much love to everyone.

Phil

From the  Music Corner

It is a delight to be "back in the saddle", after a recent week of rest and renewal. At Glastonbury Abbey, a Benedictine community in Hingham, Mass., I was richly blessed by the musical monks who led through cantor and chanting in the daily office services every day.... 5 of them! (No, I did not attend 5 services a day! :0)  The opportunity to sing through various Psalms and Scriptures either acappella or with simple organ accompaniment was a privilege, and experiencing another faith tradition was certainly enriching.

Other activities that renewed me in God's service:

  • Walking through woods and along the ocean, healthy meals shared with the brothers while they took turns serving each other and their guests, quiet times of reading and prayer.
  • In addition to God's Word, a book that deeply blessed me in my personal retreat was "Against An Infinite Horizon" by Ronald Rolheiser. Highly recommended.  Also Joan Chittister's "Monastery of the Heart" (still reading that). After returning home, I devoured "Following Atticus" (on my Kindle) by Tom Ryan. Profoundly moving and inspirational true story, set mainly in the White Mountains and Newburyport, Mass. (where Ralph and I raised our 3 children). Don't miss this one!

This May, we'll enjoy some timeless hymns, a festive alleluia, some special requests (singing of "The Lord's Prayer", and "I, the Lord of Sea and Sky") and lovely organ and piano arrangements.  Won't you come worship with us?

Soli Deo Gloria!
