A Letter from Lee White, Sr. Warden

(This letter was sent via e-News on 12/10/2013. It reappears here in case any of our parishioners did not see it.)

Dear Friends,

It was with a sad heart last evening that I received a phone call from our rector finalist, The Rev. Luke Fodor. He and his family have decided to accept a call to a parish in western New York. He emphasized how impressed he was with our church, the area and all the people he had met. I immediately notified your Vestry, Tom Wilson, our spectacular Search Committee Chair, and Rev. Hannah Anderson, Canon To The Ordinary.

All of our four finalist candidates chose other situations for reasons best for them and their families and not because there is anything wrong with All Saints Church. The Search Committee did a wonderful job.

Hannah, Ted and I feel that we now need to share our disappointment and engage in this time for Christmas and families. After the New Year, the Search Committee and Vestry will get together to learn from this experience and agree on how we need to move forward. We will be in conversation with Hannah and the Bishop who are already contacting their colleagues regarding the right match for us and our mission.

The good news is that Ted, who has been through situations like this with parishes in the past, will stay with us through the next stages of our search. We owe him a debt of gratitude for all he has done and taught us.

If you would like to discuss any of this, share your hopes or give feedback about the process please contact Tom, Ted or myself. We will schedule an open forum shortly after the New Year. Please say your prayers.

ECW (Episcopal Church Women) Annual Meeting

The meeting is being held Tuesday, January 28th at 10:00 a.m.

Did you know that you are a member automatically if you are 1) a woman and 2) an Episcopalian? Our group, originally called the Women's Auxiliary to the Board of Missions, was started in 1871. We are not your "grandmother's organization" (though some are grandmothers). We are all ages, ethnic origins and socioeconomic backgrounds with the common denominator of the love of God and the wish to do His work. We aspire to be a "Godspark" shining and sharing the love of Christ.

Wow! And how do we do that?  We fund raise creatively to support our Community Outreach and All Saints. This year we had a kitchen tour to replace our long lived "Holiday Fair." We work in concert with the Vestry in Church functions (as in the visit of the Bishop on Palm Sunday). We support the Life Ministries Food Pantry, Caregivers of Southern Carroll County, VNA Hospice, All Saints Pre-school, Families in Need, the Kingswood Youth Center, and many more. At our annual meeting in January we will assess our support for the coming year, plan our meetings and Election Day Bake Sale.

Please join us that morning. We would welcome your ideas and your company. Any questions, contact Prue Fitts (569-2426).

Holiday Treats for Sale

The All Saints' ECW will not have a bake sale in December.  However their "Georgia Pecans" and "Bean Soup Mix" will be on sale each Sunday between services during the holidays. Both make wonderful Christmas gifts and your purchase supports the Outreach Programs of ECW. Thank you.

L&T Needs a Desk

The Lord & Tailor Shop is looking for a desk for their checkout/purchase area. It should be 5 feet wide with drawers. If anyone has a desk and is willing to donate it, please contact Lorraine Holley at 569-9272. Thank you.

Food Pantry Needs

Thank you for remembering Life Ministries Food Pantry. We welcome donations of non-perishable items. Please place them in the basket in the narthex. Other items needed are supplies for babies and mothers (diapers size 3-5, wipes, toothbrushes/paste, personal hygiene items, shampoo and clothing for children).
