Outreach Building in the News

If you haven't had an opportunity to see this week's Granite State News, take a peek! The cover story of Section C is all about the exceptional energy efficiency of All Saints' Outreach Building. Bravo and huzzah to our forward-thinking Saints who lead the charge several years ago on this important issue!

CROP Walk 10/27
The CROP Hunger Walk is Sunday, October 27!   Check-in is at 12:30 at Carpenter Elementary School.  The Walk begins at 1 p.m.  The route is along the Bridge Falls and Cotton Valley paths to Allen Albee Beach.

What is a Crop Walk?  Neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world.  Different ages, faiths and backgrounds-together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting.  About 2,000 communities across the country take part each year.

Hungry people in developing countries typically walk s many as six miles a day to get food, water and fuel, and to take their goods to market.  We walk to be in solidarity with their struggle for existence.  We walk because we want to end hunger-one step at a time.

In the last 20 years, Crop hunger Walks have raised more than $294 million to help people struggling to feed their families-both around the world and around the corner.  In fact, 25 percent of the funds raised by Crop Hunger Walks benefit our local Food Pantries in Wolfeboro and Ossipee.

Please stop by the table after church on October 20 to pick up an fund raising envelope if you would like to walk or to sign up to sponsor a walker.  Questions?  Email Susan Fuller at sfuller5277@yahoo.com

Book of Remembrance
Throughout the year, the Church remembers its honored loved ones who have crossed over from life to death. They are the ones we call 'saints', those who have witnessed to God's love and power and been the special "lights of the world" to their generation. Many, like Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, St Francis of Assisi, and John the Baptist have a special day set aside when their life and memory are celebrated. All Saints Day, November 1st, is the day we remember and honor those who are not so well known, some only remembered by God. On the Sunday after All Saints Day, November 3rd, many parishes remember and read aloud the names of all the persons who have been buried form the parish in the last year. There are many others who are honored loved ones, our mentors in life and faith and we wish to remember and honor them as well. We invite you to write their names in the Book of Remembrance at the rear of the church or call the church office (603-569-3453) and we will write them in the Book for you.
Fair Chairs Needed

Help Wanted: Fair Chairpersons Needed. We do not have volunteers to chair the 2014 All Saints' Summer Fair. If interested, please contact a Vestry member.

Youth Group Spaghetti Dinner 11/2
Our youth group, organized by Linda Siracusa, will be holding a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, November 2nd from 5-7 pm to raise funds for their community service trip to Boston. Donations are needed for meal items, please check the bulletin board for sign up sheet. Cost of meal will be $10.00, children $6.00.
Your Bible! The Study Begins

As we finished our Adult Inquirers' classes late in the summer, one of our participants asked if i would lead a similar course on the bible, the whole Bible.  WOW, I thought, that's a lot to cover.  So I went looking and found that Kerygma Publishers (who have twenty or more courses on the Bible) have one entitled Your Bible! The Study Begins.

We will begin this six or seven week course on October 16th, 4pm. There is a resource guide for each participant so let us know if you are interested so we can order sufficient copies.  Topics covered will be:  What is the Bible?  How did the Bible come to be?  What is the Old Testament about?  What is the New Testament about?  How has the Bible been preserved and handed on?  How shall we study the Bible?  What is the place of the Bible in our lives?

The sessions will be structured so each might be interesting and helpful even if you have missed others.  We anticipate lively discussions and we know we have differing opinions and perspectives on these topics.

Christmas Presents for Children of Incarcerated Parents

It is that time of year when our youth will shop for Christmas presents for children of parents in the NH Prison system. Please donate checks or cash into the box in the back of the church. Last year NH congregations provided more than 700 Christmas gifts for children of parents incarcerated in the NH state prison system. This yearly program offers the parents a chance to give something to their children and strengthens family bonds until the time parents can return to their families. Holiday parties at the prisons are where each child receives a present and a book. For 37 years, the Diocese has sponsored this great program with our gifts and donations. Donations may be given through October 27th. Our gifts will be brought to the convention in November by our delegates.

Outreach Building Host Needed

Susan Fuller is involved in the Wolfeboro Energy Expo which will be held November 2nd. Our outreach building will be one of the features. They have someone who will give the tour of the building but need a volunteer host to open the building. If you are interested, please contact Susan at 515-1223 or sfuller5277@yahoo.com.
