Consecration Sunday

There was a fabulous outpouring of participation, support and enthusiasm at last week's special Consecration Sunday events. Many thanks to those who helped to organize the events and to all in the congregation who gave of themselves.

The Rev. Gina M. Finocchiaro, Minister at First Congregational Church

ECW Hosts Kitchen Tour

The ladies of All Saints' ECW invite you to take a Kitchen Tour on Wednesday, October 16.  Tour hours are 10AM to 3PM. You will have an opportunity to tour Four Distinctive Kitchens in the area. The tour includes an eighteenth Century farm kitchen, a redesigned  lodge kitchen, a modern  cape's cook center, and a lakeside gem of a kitchen. These are not the kitchens of world-famous chefs creating gourmet dishes, these are the kitchens of loving families. They have been the source of  many  chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter sandwiches, and yummy brownies. Your tour includes a complimentary lunch at the church. Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased at Butternuts Cook Shop, Fred E. Varney Company,  Baron's Major Brands, and the church office.

Youth Group Spaghetti Dinner 11/2
Our youth group, organized by Linda Siracusa, will be holding a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, November 2nd from 5-7 pm to raise funds for their community service trip to Boston. Donations are needed for meal items, please check the bulletin board for sign up sheet. Cost of meal will be $10.00, children $6.00.
Your Bible! The Study Begins

As we finished our Adult Inquirers' classes late in the summer, one of our participants asked if i would lead a similar course on the bible, the whole Bible.  WOW, I thought, that's a lot to cover.  So I went looking and found that Kerygma Publishers (who have twenty or more courses on the Bible) have one entitled Your Bible! The Study Begins.

We will begin this six or seven week course on October 16th, 4pm. There is a resource guide for each participant so let us know if you are interested so we can order sufficient copies.  Topics covered will be:  What is the Bible?  How did the Bible come to be?  What is the Old Testament about?  What is the New Testament about?  How has the Bible been preserved and handed on?  How shall we study the Bible?  What is the place of the Bible in our lives?

The sessions will be structured so each might be interesting and helpful even if you have missed others.  We anticipate lively discussions and we know we have differing opinions and perspectives on these topics.

Christmas Presents for Children of Incarcerated Parents

It is that time of year when our youth will shop for Christmas presents for children of parents in the NH Prison system. Please donate checks or cash into the box in the back of the church. Last year NH congregations provided more than 700 Christmas gifts for children of parents incarcerated in the NH state prison system. This yearly program offers the parents a chance to give something to their children and strengthens family bonds until the time parents can return to their families. Holiday parties at the prisons are where each child receives a present and a book. For 37 years, the Diocese has sponsored this great program with our gifts and donations. Donations may be given through October 27th. Our gifts will be brought to the convention in November by our delegates.

A Invitation to Participate in Pastoral Care

Greetings!

My name is Danielle Pierpont and along with my husband, Robert, I am  a newcomer at All Saints' Episcopal Church. We both want to thank you  for having made us feel so welcome! Wanting to contribute and offer something which is dear to my heart, I sat down a while back with Reverend Ted. I discussed with him the fact that I had served as a Stephen Minister for many years in our former church in Alexandria, VA. Reverend Ted is very familiar with Stephen Ministry as he had worked closely with Kenneth Haugk, the founder and executive director of Stephen Ministries St Louis. The latter is a Pastoral Care ministry offered nationwide and overseas in many Christian churches of various denominations.

Reverend Ted acknowledged that there was no official Pastoral Care ministry at All Saints. He was certain, though, that some church members had touched base with some who cannot attend services for various reasons. The need for more focus and more emphasis on those who are shut ins, lonely and suffering for whatever reasons at All Saints and should strongly be considered.

So I am proposing that some of us get together to discuss this issue and share ideas of how we could spearhead an official Pastoral Care ministry at All Saints.

I am willing to share with you my experience as a Stephen Minister. Although I highly recommend that you look up the website: www.stephenminister.org and you look for: WHAT IS A STEPHEN MINISTER?  We can adapt from this later and shape our own Pastoral Care Ministry without spending money.

I am aware that we all have very different spiritual gifts given to us by God. I am also aware that many of you are involved in many other aspects of God's work for His kingdom. Prayer being at the core of all ministries please pray about this ministry and contact me by phoneor e-mail if you wish to give me feedback.

                                                                                                                                            Blessings,

Danielle Pierpont
