Clambakes = SUCCESS!

As a fundraiser for the Silent Auction booth of our Summer Fair, Ted volunteered to cook a clambake if we were able to get 12 to 16 church members to sign up.  Very shortly we had about 60 people sign up, and Ted then increased the ante by volunteering to cook three clambakes on the first three Friday evenings following Labor Day. By clicking on the web site and then clicking on Start Slideshow you'll see via the magic of photos and a 30 second video clip an 8 minute summary of the the three clambakes.

There is something special about sharing a meal with those that you worship and share communion. It was even more special because our parish priest cooked the meal for us.  Far down the list of blessings we received from the clambakes is the fact that we raised well over $2,000 for the Silent Auction of our Summer Fair. That money goes into our church budget.  So, much love and many thanks to Ted for providing us with three memorable evenings.

Your Bible! The Study Begins

As we finished our Adult Inquirers' classes late in the summer, one of our participants asked if i would lead a similar course on the bible, the whole Bible.  WOW, I thought, that's a lot to cover.  So I went looking and found that Kerygma Publishers (who have twenty or more courses on the Bible) have one entitled Your Bible! The Study Begins.

We will begin this six or seven week course on October 16th, 4pm. There is a resource guide for each participant so let us know if you are interested so we can order sufficient copies.  Topics covered will be:  What is the Bible?  How did the Bible come to be?  What is the Old Testament about?  What is the New Testament about?  How has the Bible been preserved and handed on?  How shall we study the Bible?  What is the place of the Bible in our lives?

The sessions will be structured so each might be interesting and helpful even if you have missed others.  We anticipate lively discussions and we know we have differing opinions and perspectives on these topics.

ECW Hosts Kitchen Tour

The ladies of All Saints' ECW invite you to take a Kitchen Tour on Wednesday, October 16.  Tour hours are 9AM to 3PM. You will have an opportunity to tour Four Distinctive Kitchens in the area. The tour includes an eighteenth Century farm kitchen, a redesigned  lodge kitchen, a modern  cape's cook center, and a lakeside gem of a kitchen. These are not the kitchens of world-famous chefs creating gourmet dishes, these are the kitchens of loving families. They have been the source of  many  chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter sandwiches, and yummy brownies. Your tour includes a complimentary lunch at the church. Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased at Butternuts Cook Shop, Fred E. Varney Company,  Baron's Major Brands, and the church office.

Youth Group Spaghetti Dinner 10/5

Our youth group, organized by Linda Siracusa, will be holding a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, October 5th from 5-7 pm to raise funds for their community service trip to Boston. Donations are needed for meal items, please check the bulletin board for sign up sheet. Cost of meal will be $10.00, children $6.00.

ACTS Fundraiser 10/6

ACTS (Assistance Canine Training Services) Howl-O-Ween is taking place on Sunday 10/6 at The Nick and baked goods are needed for their bake sale booth. Lorraine Crocker would appreciate any baked items being dropped off at church on Sunday morning October 6th. Thank you.

No Thursday Service

There will not be a Thursday service this week.

Cleaning Help Available

One of our parishioners is looking for work cleaning homes. If you are interested, please contact the church office for more information.
