Church School Begins This Week

This Sunday, September 15 will be the first day of Church School for this school year. Children will gather in the children's chapel during the 10AM service. It will be followed by our traditional 'welcome back' barbecue. We hope everyone - young and used-to-be-young - can attend!

Consecration Sunday is Coming!

All Saints' will celebrate Consecration Sunday on October 6th. Please see the full text of Sr. Warden Lee White's letter (below) regarding this important new approach to stewardship at All Saints'.

Lord & Tailor Season Switch Over

Lord & Tailor continues to transform the shop from summer to fall/winter Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and on Monday and Tuesday September 16th and 17th starting around 9:00 a.m. All are welcome to come in any time you can spare to help with the switch.

KYC Needs Volunteers

The Kingswood Youth Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, positive environment in which youth (age 12-18) may grow, learn and develop important life skills critical to their success in the adult world. A wide variety of volunteer opportunities exist within the KYC including direct interaction with teens after school and support functions when kids are not at the Center. If you think you might be interested in our organization we would love to show you our facility and tell you more about what we do. You may contact Cathy Cunningham, Volunteer Coordinator, at 569-5949 Monday through Thursday noon to 5:00 for more information.

Prayer List

The church office is looking for input on whether or not there are any names on our prayer list that should be added, changed or removed. Please email the office.

Blood Drive Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are still needed for shifts for our blood drive on Saturday, September 21st. Shifts are 9:45 am until 1 pm and 12:45 pm until 4 pm.  See sign up sheet on bulletin board. Thank you.

Clam Bake

Last Friday the first of three clambakes occurred at our home.  It was a wonderful evening, that everyone immensely enjoyed.  Tonight, the second clambake will take place at the home of Tom and Donna Cote, and the final clambake will occur on Friday, Sept. 20th at the home of Arthur and Prue Fitts.  The clambakes are a fund raiser from the Silent Auction of the Summer Fair, and will add around $2,000 to the Summer Fair financial totals. The clambakes are special because our Rector, Ted Rice, expertly cooks the clambakes.  Many thanks to Ted for his energy and expertise in preparing clambakes for over 60 members of our congregation

After the clambakes are finished, I'll put a short slide show together of all three clambakes, and that can be accessed thru the E-News.

Attached are a few photos taken from the first clambake.

Sincerely,

Phil Wasmuth,  Cochair of Silent Auction

Consecration Sunday is Coming!

Congregations that approach financial stewardship from a biblical perspective do not view the money Christians give to their church merely as a way to pay its bills. Rather, such congregations see financial contributions as a way to help people grow spiritually in their relationship with God by supporting their church's mission and ministry with a percentage of their incomes.

Our congregation's finance committee has selected the New Consecration Sunday Stewardship Program as a way to teach the biblical and spiritual principles of generous giving in our stewardship education emphasis this year.

New Consecration Sunday is based on the biblical philosophy of the need of the giver to give for his or her own spiritual development, rather than on the need of the church to receive. Instead of treating people like members of a social club who should pay dues, we will treat people like followers of Jesus Christ who want to give unselfishly as an act of discipleship. New Consecration Sunday encourages people toward proportionate and systematic giving in response to the question, "What percentage of my income is God calling me to give?" During morning worship on Consecration Sunday, we are asking our attendees and members to make their financial commitments to our church's missionary, benevolent, and educational ministries in this community and around the world.

Every attendee and member who completes an Estimate of Giving Card does so voluntarily by attending morning worship on Consecration Sunday. We urge people to attend even if they feel strongly opposed to completing a card. The procedure is done in such a way that no one feels personal embarrassment if he or she chooses not to fill out a card.

We will do no home solicitation to ask people to complete cards. During morning worship our guest leader will conduct a brief period of instruction and inspiration, climaxed by members making their commitments as a confidential act of worship.

We will encourage participation in Consecration Sunday events through the Consecration Sunday team and Vestry members. Since we will make no follow-up visits to ask people to complete their cards, we will make every effort to inform, inspire, and commit everyone to attend Consecration Sunday worship.

Thanks in advance for your enthusiastic participation in Consecration Sunday events.

Senior Warden
