Tony-Worthy Performances
|
 | | Keep your kitty cats away from the steamroller. Sandi Johnson knows why.... Photo thanks to Phil Wasmuth |
While the debut came too late in the theater season to get a Tony nomination, the Saints who came together to perform "The Greeters: A Weekly Tragedy" received well-deserved praise from all in attendance last Sunday. After the applause faded, Ted led a great discussion and gathered some creative ideas of how we might become a more welcoming and hospitable congregation. Ted would like comments from everyone on ideas to pursue and implement. Please email the church office at allsaints@metrocast.net.

WPL to Host Study of Religion
| |
The Wolfeboro Public Library will begin hosting a series of lunchtime programs on the non-denominational study of religion on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. The series is based on Professor Charles Jones' DVD lectures on religious studies recorded by The Teaching Company. Each bi-weekly session will begin with a 30 minute DVD lecture followed by a discussion period. This lunchtime program, moderated by Mike Hodder, is free and open to all. The study group will cover such topics as what is religion, how does religious studies differ from theology, what can anthropology tell us about the role of religion, and how do gender studies impact religious studies? Along the way the work of Emile Durkheim, Carl Jung, Karl Marx, Mircea Eliade and others will be examined along with their impacts on our understanding of religion and its role in society.
No prior knowledge is required and there will be no set readings. The program is solely designed to offer a chance to study the topic and freely discuss your thoughts with others. For further information about this event, contact Cynthia Scott at 569-2428, wolfelibdir@metrocast.net or visit www.wolfeborolibrary.org.
