Pentecost - wear red!

This Sunday is Pentecost or the 'coming of the Holy Spirit'. It's traditional to wear red (and Ted says orange and yellow are good representations, too!) on Pentecost. So, break out the bright colors and see you on Sunday at 8 or 10:00!

UTO this Sunday

UTO in-gathering is this Sunday. Do your finance commitee a favor and count your change and write a check!

Youth Group Car Wash Cancelled This Sunday

Our youth group's car wash has been cancelled for this Sunday, May 19th after church service.

This is Carpool Sunday

On Sunday, April 21, several All Saints' Church members responded to an invitation to carpool to church.  Originally conceived as a way to recognize Earth Day (April 22) by being good stewards, it quickly became apparent that besides saving gas, carpooling is fun and provides extra time for fellowship.  This Sunday, May 19, is another "designated" Carpool Sunday. ("Designated" only because I'm offering it as a suggestion for the congregation one Sunday a month to see what happens.) My dream is that some Sunday every car that comes to church will be filled to capacity.  So I invite you to invite a neighbor to ride with you to church;  someone who regularly attends All Saints' or someone who you've been thinking about inviting to come to church with you.  See you Sunday!

- Susan Fuller

Monthly Combined Service & Congregational Conversation

Each month beginning in June, All Saints will have one service at 9 am. This service has been changed to the 2nd Sunday of each month to work around the Summer holidays. Sunday, June 9th we will have one service at 9 am and the discussion following will involve becoming a more welcoming, hospitable congregation. Please plan on taking part in this discussion. Refreshments will be served.

Summer Fair News
  • Meeting for Fair Booth Chairs is this Sunday between 8 & 10 services.

  • Linens will not be accepting curtains this year, please pass this along to any relevant parties. Thank you. Wilma Greymont
  • We ask the congregation to collect boxes and bags for sorting and storage of fair items.
  • Karin Hargy is looking for a vice chair for kitchen goods, etc. Please contact the church office, if interested.

Song Group

Michelle Coffey has started a song group that meets Friday from 4-5 pm and Sunday from 8-8:45 am. Anyone 10 years or older is invited to attend. Both sessions are held in the children's chapel. Hymns and contemporary Christian songs are sung. There is no commitment, people can attend whenever they like. The purpose is to give thanks to God through song. You are welcome to bring an instrument. If you have any questions, please call Michelle at 367-9975.

On-Going Christian Meditation Group

During Lent we had several groups who joined together in learning about and practicing a form Christian meditation known as the Breath Prayer. There are many other forms of Christian meditation as well as various forms and styles of meditation used by other religions and non-religious groups.

One of the purposes in conducting the sessions in Lent was to begin an on-going group that reads about prayer, meditation and spirituality, gathers monthly for discussion of these practices and then spends time in quiet practicing whatever form of meditation the participants practice.

The first meeting of this group will be on May 22nd at 7pm in the All Saints library. Participants are encouraged to read the first section of Henri Nouwen's, Reaching Out, in preparation for the discussion. Though this is a book originally published in 1986, it still provides a wonderful invitation to the life or prayer and spirituality: from loneliness to solitude, from hostility to hospitality and, finally, from illusion to prayer.

If you are interested in learning about and discussing these issues and practicing a time of silence, please join us. Reading the book is not a requirement for participation.

Inquirers Group

The Inquirers Group is beginning.  This was featured some month's back and we took the names of those interested. Here is a description of what it is all about:  An Opportunity to Explore and Deepen Our Faith - an opportunity for adults to learn more about the Christian faith and the Episcopal Church. We use this time, usually six to eight sessions, to invite participants to explore their own faith journey. Some of the participants may want to be involved in preparation for Baptism, Confirmation, Reception or Reaffirmation of their faith.  Others may simply wish to participate in a series of discussions of our faith which gives them an opportunity to explore all those questions they never had a chance to ask or for which no adequate answer was offered when the question arose during their youth. During the sessions we would engage in a number of exercises that encourage reflection, explore the history of the Church and the Book of Common Prayer, and hear a few brief presentations. There will be discussions on the sacraments, prayer, service, and ministry. There will also be ample time to answer any questions one might have about the faith or the Episcopal Church. Ted would like to begin first session on Tuesday, May 14th at 4 pm in the library. Please contact the church office if interested.
