Saint O'Lanterns Sunday: 10/28

On Sunday, October 28th, the church school children will celebrate All Saints Day (and Halloween!) by carving "Saint O'Lanterns". The theme for the carving will be All Saints Day, with emphasis on not only "church" saints but anything related to our church or anyone who might be considered a "saint" to any of us as individuals, for having blessed our lives in some way. I'm planning on displaying all the pumpkins outside the church, lit for Halloween night.

Anyone in the congregation who wishes to carve a "Saint O'Lantern" at home, to be displayed with the rest, would be most welcome. I also need volunteers for that Sunday morning (10 - 11:15) because I will be away. Any adults willing to help that day would be most appreciated!

Holiday Fair Meeting 10/24

All Saints' ECW will meet this Wednesday, October 24, at 10:00AM in the Beck Library.  This is our Holiday Fair Planning Meeting.  All the women in the parish are invited to join us as we make our plans for this exciting traditional fund-raiser.  After the meeting we are all invited to stay for lunch at the Senior Center meeting in our undercroft and to stay for a very important presentation by the state attorney general's office and the Wolfeboro Police Dept, on the subject of scams against the elderly.  Please join us for this busy and exciting day.

Consecration DVD Available

The Election and Transition Committee has created a DVD of the Consecration of Bishop Rob Hirschfeld.  It is a wonderful memento of that glorious occasion and service, and we look forward to distributing copies to all who wish to have them.  The cost of each DVD will be $10.00, which will cover most of the reproduction and delivery costs for the DVD.

They have extended the time for ordering DVDs to improve the chances that as many parishioners as possible hear of the possibility of getting a DVD.  They now plan to duplicate the DVDs during the week of October 22, so they need all checks and addresses to be in by October 19, 2012.

If you would like a copy of the DVD, please send a check for $10.00 made out to the Diocese of New Hampshire with a notation of "Consecration DVD" to:

Consumer Fraud & Protection Workshop

On Wednesday, October 24, James Boffetti, Senior Assistant Attorney General for the State of New Hampshire and Chief of the State Consumer and Antitrust Bureau, will lead a program on Consumer Fraud and Protection for Seniors hosted by the Wolfeboro Senior Center and Meals at All Saints Church.

The program, which begins at 1:30 p.m., seeks to raise awareness of the threat of fraud to the senior community by teaching how to avoid being victimized.  Topics to be covered include: Identity Theft; Checking your Credit Report Annually; Medical Identity Theft; Counterfeit Check Scams, Lottery Scams; Phone Scams; and E-mail "Phishing" Scams. The program will also address the question, "What should I do if I am a victim?"

Senior Attorney General Boffetti will be joined by other members of his staff for the presentation along with Wolfeboro Police Chief Stuart Chase and Detective Guy Maloney. The program will focus on fraud directed at seniors, but all are welcome to attend.  This is a free event, and refreshments will be served.  For more information call the Wolfeboro Senior Center at 515-1385 or see its website www.wolfeboroseniorcenter.org.

KYC Seeks Volunteers

The Kingswood Youth Center is looking for volunteers to come and be with the teens (ages 12-18) one afternoon a week from 2:30 - 5:00 pm.  I was hoping you could post the attached announcement in your bulletin or perhaps on your announcement bulletin board.  This is a great opportunity for retired folks...many of our volunteers are retired teachers and guidance counselors but no previous experience is necessary.  Just being an adult who cares and listens is perfect.  We do a background check once volunteers fill out the volunteer application.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call me at 569-5949
